Join Ingalls' Family Care Center in Tinley Park in this role as a Medical Receptionist.
Under the supervision of the Office Staff Manager, the Medical Receptionist performs general reception duties including the processing of incoming and outgoing patients, telephone message retrieval and routing, insurance verification and processing and general filing, The position will have a wide range of access to protected health information (“PHI”) and understands the importance of confidentiality regarding all patient information pursuant to HIPAA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs clerical duties as described.
- Schedules surgical procedures to be performed.
- Files and maintains medical records.
- Typing, form completion, photocopying, faxing, mail sorting.
- Receives incoming calls, routing same to appropriate party and takes messages according to office protocol or needs of customer.
Performs medical clerical functions as described.
- Codes procedures for billing purposes using CPT codes.
Receives and discharges patients.
- Registers patients on arrival at Center.
- Greets patients
- Verifies demographic and insurance information.
- Collects payments and issues receipts.
- Notifies clinical staff.
Performs quality assurance activities.
- Provides feedback to involved parties.
- Makes corrections and adjustments as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR required
- Minimum of one-year current general office experience
- Exceptional customer service skills including the ability to use independent thinking, sound judgment and creativity when resolving customer issues
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and effectively handle challenging situations
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Basic office skills including 35 wpm typing and 4500 key stokes an hour
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with database entry and applications (EPIC)

- Shift: Days 8 hour shifts Monday-Friday NO WEEKEND/ NO HOLIDAYS
