Job Description

Kidney Specialists of Minnesota (KSM) an Independent Nephrology Group and is the largest practice in the Twin Cities and surrounding communities. KSM has been providing high-quality care to patients with chronic kidney disease, hypertension, diabetic kidney disease, kidney transplants, and ESRD since 1978. Our mission is to provide the highest quality and most advanced medical care available. We have multiple locations with 23 Nephrologists as well as six specialized Advanced Practitioners.


We are actively hiring for a full-time Medical Receptionist (8:30-4:30pm/9:00-5:00pm) based at our Brooklyn Center location and available to float to our Roseville and Richfield clinics as needed. JOB PURPOSE


Provide patients and visitors with exceptional customer service and demonstrate professional behavior by:


  • Possessing an in-depth knowledge of KSM clinic procedures and protocols, electronic medical record documentation, state and federal privacy guidelines, and medical terminology
  • Ensuring patients move through the intake and checkout processes efficiently
  • Working with all staff to make sure quality patient services are provided at the KSM clinic
  • Performing duties as assigned, willingly accepting new and additional assignments, and proactively identifying other tasks that need to be completed
  • Maintaining a positive demeanor and working cooperatively with KSM coworkers and management
  • Home based at Brooklyn Center Clinic. Float between KSM sites as needed (Brooklyn Center, Richfield and Roseville)

JOB DESCRIPTION


A. Medical Records Management


  • Scan/upload forms and medical records into EHR and send to appropriate departments
  • Collect and organize patient records for requesting providers and reviewers
  • Complete Release of Information requests
  • Route medical records to appropriate departments
  • Maintain medical records
  • Update patient demographic and insurance information in Practice Management and EHR systems
  • Document patient interactions in EHR
  • Process faxed and mailed forms and medical records

B. Coordinate Patient Visits


  • Schedule patient lab, injection, and clinic appointments
  • Schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments. Contact patients to confirm upcoming appointments
  • Manage the wait list in Practice Management system by calling and scheduling patients when they are due to return to clinic

C. Manage Site Operations


  • Work with KSM leadership to complete administrative tasks as requested
  • Complete daily review of answering service call records
  • Manage and collect co-pays and payments due on account at the time of service.

D. Manage Daily Clinic Activities


  • Answer and direct multiple telephone lines and take care of the caller’s needs quickly and correctly
  • Complete daily chart prep activities
  • Accurately entering insurances as well as checking patient eligibility
  • Greet and register patients for appointments. Complete administrative discharge procedures
  • Maintain reception area and lobby.

E. Misc.


  • Travel to other locations as needed based on the needs of the practice.
  • Other duties as assigned based on the needs of the practice

SKILL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS


  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a medical receptionist
  • Epic experience required
  • Insurance Knowledge
  • Adaptable to change
  • Reliable
  • Ability and means to travel
