Job duties include performing clinical testing in at least two of the following areas: blood bank, microbiology, serology, or core lab (chemistry, hematology, coagulation or urinalysis). A technician is responsible for specimen receiving and processing, test performance, QC reporting and reporting test results. Must work well under supervision and as part of a team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate degree in medical laboratory technology or related science with an approved training program, or high school graduate and have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist. Ability to use sophisticated analytical equipment and possess strong computer skills.

Experience: minimum 6 months experience in laboratory work as part of a NAACLS approved clinical rotation program in Medical Laboratory Science or previous work experience as certified Medical Laboratory Technician under NYS oversight.

Licensure/Certification: New York State Clinical Laboratory Technician Certificate required.
