Mohs Histotechnician

• Starting at $18 / hour
• General part-time hours between 7:00am-3:00 pm

What is Mohs Surgery?

Mohs surgery is a multi-step procedure in which a physician systematically removes cancerous tissue from a patient, examines the processed tissue on slides to determine that all of the cancer has been removed from the designated area, and either closes the tumor site (if all the cancer has been removed) or removes additional tissue for processing and viewing. This process will be repeated until the doctor is confident that all of the cancerous tissue has been removed. Because the surgeon relies on the perfect processing of tissue slides, the histotechnician is paramount in ensuring a successful procedure. Qualifications:

• Bachelors in Science preferred along with preference for healthcare experience
• Science coursework: 2 years (required)
• Previous lab or healthcare experience
• Ability to learn and adapt to fast paced environment
• Good hand eye coordination, loves working with hands, detail oriented
• Understanding of spatial orientation
• Able to accommodate flexible work schedule
• Ability to interact with doctors, staff and patients in a professional and courteous manner, use medical terminology, and exhibit proficient problem solving skills.
• Requires valid driver’s license.
• Compensation and paid meals for traveling outside of your region.
• Must be willing to assist with transporting equipment with company vehicle
• Driver’s License and reliable transportation required
