Job Description
- Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
- The position is responsible for ensuring that all patients have an accurate and comprehensive registration experience. The position will assist with escorting patients to the exam rooms and preparing them for exams. All other duties as assigned

- Required: Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant Course Completion and American Heart Association BLS

- Required: 2 year Medical Assistant or 1 year of Scheduling will consider one year MA experience

- Essential Responsibilities
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance. Policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
- Identifies patients by using proper method of retrieving patient history/information, avoiding creation of Duplicate Medical Records for additional patient visits.
- Verify and accurately enters and updates patient information while registering as per departmental guidelines
- Reviews insurance eligibility, updates with accurate information obtained from the health plan and releases the insurance based upon verification process.
- Identifies and collects co-pays/deductibles based on insurance eligibility information and/or EMC uninsured Cash Discount quotes. Provides patient with receipt of payment.
- Ensures that all patient access paperwork, as per organizational policies, including patient HIPAA regulation information, patient required signature and forms that are necessary for service to be completed.
- Performs the Daily Cash Change Drawer Custodian process.
- Prepares all the appropriate Medicare Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) and (LMRP) program requirements and completion, including patient notification and signature requirements at the time of service (if applicable)
- . Requests and scans Insurance cards and other necessary forms of identification.
- Completes the Medicare Screening Form for all Medicare patients and adheres to completion per Medicare requirements.
- Coordinates and assists other staff in ensuring that all patients are registered in a timely manner.
- Obtains medical history (vital signs) and assists physicians so that appropriate preparation, examination and diagnostic testing occur without error and without delay.
- Communicates appropriately with physicians, co-workers, patients, employers, outside agencies and the public in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
- Collects and processes all necessary paperwork assuring appropriate reporting and medical documentation.
- Enters and discharges patient information from the computer with records completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maximizes use of free time between patients and other tasks to assist with cleaning, stocking, copying documents, and filing.
- Other duties as assigned.
