Medical Assistant/Patient Care Technician

Impact Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is looking for professional, motivated and caring people to join our dynamic team. We are an outpatient orthopedic surgery office located in Prairie Village, Kansas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Preference given to candidates with a degree in Athletic Training, LPN, Medical Assistant, CNA, Exercise Science/Kinesiology, or prior orthopedic experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• EMR experience preferred

ROLES & RESPONISBILITIES:

· Responsible for welcoming and rooming patients including collecting vital signs, performing medication reconciliation, and documenting medical history in the Electronic Medical Record accurately

· Assist the physician with in-office procedures such as suture/staple removal, splinting and casting

· Surgery scheduling and coordination of care

· Complete insurance authorizations

· Correspondence with workers compensation case managers and adjusters as needed.

· Clean, stock and prepare exam rooms for patient encounters

· Assistance with front office tasks as needed

· Triage patient messages, phone calls and questions appropriately and report to the doctor

· Schedule patient appointments

· Collect copays and patient balances from patients as applicable

· Check-in and check-out patients

SKILLS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Attention to detail

· Proficient with Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.)

· Good typing skills

· Data entry

· Excellent communication and customer service skills

· Leadership skills and patient advocacy

· Ensure efficient patient flow and exceptional customer service

• Initiate problem solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution to foster sound working relationships with peers/colleagues
• Computer software/hardware troubleshooting

· Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
