Schedule: Full Time, Days - Mon, Wed, Thurs & Fri, 8am-4:30pm; Tues, 8:30am-5pm

ResponsibilitiesGrand View Health is looking for a Medical Assistant to join our bariatric team and become a valued member of our team.

Medical Assistants perform routine clinical and administrative tasks to keep the office of physicians and other health practitioners running efficiently.

Essential Functions:
  • Demonstrates competency in necessary skills to perform a variety of administrative and patient-related duties to ensure quality care to the adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
  • Interviews patients in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Engages patient, promotes self-care and provides encouragement to the patient.
  • Responsible for taking accurate vital signs which include, but are not limited to, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressures, height and weight. Must be able to enter this information efficiently into the computer system.
  • Responsible for preparing the patient chart prior to the visit. Ensures that all test results, hospital records and consult letters are in the record. Identifies any quality gaps and flags them for the provider.
  • Responsible for performing tests such as EKGs and must set up any other tests requested by the physician.
  • Responsible for communicating test results to the patient under the direction of the provider, as well answer questions that the patient may have.
  • Responsible for giving injections and performing venipuncture as needed.
  • Responsible for spinning blood samples and completing lab paperwork as needed.
  • Responsible for assisting clinicians during examinations, procedures and any other patient-related duties.
  • Assists with maintenance of the supply closet. Responsible for keeping accurate, up-to-date record of drug supplies on hand.
  • Screens and redirects telephone calls and walk-in visitors.
  • Assists in the collection of clinical data for performance improvement purposes.
  • Organizes, maintains and updates files/databases.
  • Coordinates scheduling of appointments.
  • Independently anticipates data/information/staff support needs and facilitates information collection and dissemination.
  • Performs CLIA-waived quality controls as needed.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Responsible for other miscellaneous duties which may include, but are not limited to, stocking exam rooms, cleaning exam rooms, emptying trash cans, checking to see if the supply closets are clean and in order, putting supplies away, collecting laundry and ensuring that all work areas are in order before leaving.
QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma/GED and over 1 to 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or other healthcare professional meeting core competencies of Medical Assistant profession (vital signs, history and medication reconciliation) in a healthcare environment required.
  • Vocational diploma, Certified or Registered Medical Assistant program, and no office experience/healthcare experience preferred; or vocational diploma, Certified or Registered Medical Assistant program, and over 1 to 3 years of office experience/healthcare experience preferred.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Medical Assistant upon hire preferred.
  • Cardiac pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) upon hire preferred.
