Job Description
Position ProfileThe Medical Assistant position for Geriatric Solutions is Responsible for assisting providers with patient care and clerical tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from practice services. Conveys a positive image of the company and provides exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities

§ Fulfills patients care responsibilities as assigned which may include: answering patient/family/caregiver calls which involves assessing the situation, obtaining pertinent information, and relaying information as necessary to the medical provider to receive further information as to how to proceed; relaying instructions to patient/families/caregivers.

§ Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: completing forms/requisitions as needed; medication refills; accurately and thoroughly documenting in the patient reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; sending/receiving patient medical records; scheduling and confirming appointment; verifying and/or entering patient demographics; managing charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.

§ Maintains the strictest of confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

§ Performs other duties as assigned.

§ Knowledge of health care field and medical specialty.

§ Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families of diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications

§ High school diploma or GED required.

§ Minimum one year work experience in medical practice; preferably service related.

§ Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

§ Excellent customer service and critical thinking skills.

§ Strong organizational skills.

§ Medical Assistant certification and or license preferred.
