We are an urgent care looking for a full-time Medical Assistant.

Summary: Assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direct supervision of a licensed practitioner by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information on patients' charts and in electronic medical record.
  • Prepares, sanitizes examination/treatment rooms for examination and treatment of patients.
  • Drapes patients with covering and positions appropriate instruments and equipment.
  • Hands instruments and materials to the provider as directed.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
  • Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials as directed.
  • Calls medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests.
  • Collects blood samples via venipuncture, gives injections or treatments and prepares specimens for laboratory tests.
  • Keys data into computer in timely manner to maintain patient records.
  • Runs reports on Instadose badge every month

Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and certificate from college or technical school.

Certificates and Licenses: Maintain a current BLS for healthcare providers certificate.

Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents in English, write routine reports and correspondence in English, and speak effectively before patients or associates of the organization. Able to spell accurately.

Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding and critical thinking to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Demonstrated critical thinking ability.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and electronic health record database software.

Telephone Skills: To perform this job successfully, the individual will be able to speak clearly using the telephone to internal and external customers, patients and providers while following all customer service protocols consistently.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
