Job Description
Overview: In collaboration with patients, families (as defined by the patient) and staff across all disciplines and departments is responsible for performing selected clinical duties including administrative/clerical duties, basic patient care and/or performing administrative tasks associated with patient intake at assigned COVID service location.Responsibilities: The MA may be assigned to support the COVID Testing Team, Registry Team or Vaccine Clinic sites to meet the needs of patients and community members in response to the pandemic. If asked to serve in any other capacity as a MA other than for the COVID team, please contact HR immediately.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
Current Health Care Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Will be required to maintain a current CPR certification during employment.

COVID Testing Team Primary Duties
- Screening symptomatic and asymptomatic COVID patients per CDC guideline to determine eligibility for COVID screening
- Obtain and complete all necessary documentation in order to register, order and submit COVID test such as ROI,
- Adhere to CUC infection control and PPE requirements
- Perform COVID specimen collection following CUC protocol
- Process lab specimens for processing following two patient identification process
- Provide COVID/quarantine with written instructions to all individuals receiving screening
- Following CUC protocol, provide flu vaccines to patients and community members as directed
- Following CUC protocol, provide COVID vaccines to CUC team members and patients and community members as directed
- Obtain and complete all necessary documentation in order to register, order Flu or COVID vaccine such as
as indicated
- Complete all necessary documentation related to vaccine administration in electronic medical record, ImmTrac, etc.
- Maintain a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas as per CUC guidelines
- Phone queue - Answering incoming patient calls includes relaying negative results, positive results, providing
- As directed, schedule patient appointments accurately and efficiently utilizing the computer system.
- Assist with patient notification strategies, such as issuing various types of patient letters, documentation of patient notification messages.
- Assist with preparing and/or completing necessary COVID related reports as needed.
- Document all interventions in the EMR as per CUC protocol and workflows.
- Monitors patients and other individuals entering the facility, driving into the facility parking lot, or using remote parking/waiting areas. Maintains physical presence at assigned entry point.
- Communicates clearly using compassionate connected care model with all patients, visitors, and the general public.
- Ensures a safe patient and staff environment by screening all entrants according to established guidelines. Utilizes approved screening methods as appropriate to the situation, including verbal screening and temperature assessment.
- Directs patients or individuals appropriately based on defined criteria.
- Relays appropriate hand-off communication to appropriate nursing personnel or other personnel to ensure continuity of care and safe environment.
- Reports any concerns with screening or entrant condition promptly.
- Creates clear, accurate documentation as stated in CDC and facility protocol
- Ability to work assigned hours, and as needed outside regularly scheduled hours including weekends at either COVID locations to meet the needs of patients and community members in response to the pandemic.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Understand PPE requirements and reasons behind wearing PPE (per infection control guidelines)
- Understand necessity of infection control-not touching patient or any item patient has (i.e., driver's license, insurance card, etc.)
- Ability to be able to withstand extreme temperatures in full PPE
- Complies with principles of hand hygiene and aseptic technique.
- Demonstrates knowledge and respect of patient rights to privacy and protection of patient confidentiality
- Complies with principles of hand hygiene, aseptic, and sterile technique.
- Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates behaviors consistent with established policies/procedures.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Medical Assistant Diploma and/or National Medical Assistant Certification verifying graduation from a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent military healthcare experience.
- Completion of a medical assistant externship
