Providence is calling a Medical Assistant to Providence Office Park located in Portland, OR . The Annual Wellness Visit Department assists PMG clinics in Portland Metro area to reach their goals of completions rates. We have a team of providers, MAs and PRRs to support the clinics, where it is needed.
Medical Assistant I or II
Shift: 7:30 AM to 5 PM M-Th and F is a 4-hour shift that is variable based on preference. There is potential for the hours of this position to change to M-F 8 AM to 5 PM.

Job Description:
Providence Medical Assistants are placed as Level I or II, based on experience with specific skill sets, certifications, and responsibilities.
As a Medical Assistant I, you will:
- Greet and prepare patients for their appointment – confirm identity; record vital signs and other appropriate information, maintain medication and immunization records, and document all interactions
- Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas
- Under the delegation of a licensed practitioner, you may:
- Obtain specimens; perform required testing; administer medications; and administer vaccines
- Assist or perform point-of-care tests and clinical procedures
- Float to other clinics as needed
Medical Assistant II performs all the duties above as well as:
- Front office tasks such as patient authorizations, scheduling, etc.
- Increasingly advanced procedures with validated competencies
- Follow procedures for handling and disposing of biohazardous, infectious and pharmaceutical waste
- Prepare, clean and sterilize, and/or reprocess instruments (autoclaving) and maintain equipment with validated competencies
- Assist in orientation of new team members and model best practices
- Provide timely communication and information to patients, families and practitioners
- Consistently meet skill-based competency expectations
- Promote organization mission, vision, and values and serve as an ambassador
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Six (6) months Medical Assistant experience to be eligible for Level II status
- AHA-accredited Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Active National certification/registration:
- MA certification must be obtained within 180 days of hire (AMCA, AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or NAHP)”
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with colleagues, patients, families, and visitors
- Ability to treat people with respect, instill trust in others, and uphold our values
- Flexibility to meet the changing needs of patients and clinics
- Demonstrated PC skills (ex: MS Office and EHR use)
- Awareness of current state, federal, and local laws relating to position and patient care
- Expanded knowledge of vaccinations, medications, and their use, including brand and generic names related to the clinic/location supported
- Compliance with all applicable infection control and safety procedures
- Increasingly expanded knowledge of principles and practices governing MA role and the ability to apply them effectively
- Ability to perform delegated work with minimal oversight
- Ability to analyze, problem solve, and prioritize multiple tasks under pressure
- High degree of accountability with increasing responsibilities
Preferred qualifications include:
- Graduate of accredited school for medical assistants or an equivalent combination of course work, experience, and training to qualify to sit for your state or national Certification Exam
- Upon hire, active state or national certification/registration by AMCA, AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or NAHP as a Medical Assistant
