Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates facilities for the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA), in Albuquerque, NM as well as the Kansas City National Security Campus. Summary:
Conducts tests, equipment setup, equipment operations, experiments, and monitoring and measuring for product acceptance; gathers data; builds prototypes/units and testing equipment; maintains and calibrates standards and equipment; and devises new testing methods. Drafts procedures and records laboratory notes, and other pertinent details for product acceptance. Provides technical direction and training to other personnel. Works in accordance with general objectives, improving and refining devices, equipment, and methods, as necessary. Interfaces with and provides quality control inspection to engineering.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs setup of testing and mechanical processing equipment, monitoring and measuring instruments and other test apparatus and performs a wide variety of testing of materials, such as prototype units and production units
- Performs visual, mechanical, and electrical inspection of parts, subassemblies, printed circuit boards, completed assemblies, production processes, final inspections and acceptance tests on internally and externally manufactured items
- Will be required to operate computers, connect test cables, and follow detail inspection/test instructions
- Gathers and evaluates data for validity, accuracy, completeness, and determining product acceptance
- May perform in-process reviews during the assembly process as specified in a record of assembly
- Adjustment and calibration of components such as (lights, temperature devices, air systems, tires, and torque requirements)
- Participates in the establishment of in-process, final quality control and inspection criteria methods for acceptance for the final product
- Follow controls involving required documentation, forms, numbering, labeling, assessment of tightly controlled items and applicable training
- Observes the use and handling of explosives and other hazardous materials
You Must Haves:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Technician, Engineering or equivalent technical manufacturing position
- Minimum of 2 years as a Dimensional Inspector
- Experience using Open set up inspection tools -Surface plates, Height Gages, Micrometers, Calipers
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability in decision making, organizing, and problem solving are required
We Value:
- Position requires 2 years of experience in equivalent machining, inspection, examination, or test activities
- The applicant should have a working knowledge of and demonstrated experience in metrology and inspections operations
- Working knowledge of and experience interpreting and applying GD&T technical principles, theories, and concepts, sketches
- Working knowledge of performing set up, alignments, maintenance, operations, and/or calibration of conventional inspection tools and/or equipment
- Demonstrated experience in researching, specifying, and selecting measurement and test equipment
- Experience using programmable Optical comparators
- Experience with articulating arm CMM's- Faro, Romer
- Experience with Laser Tracker CMM's- Faro, API, Hexagon
- Experience with Zeiss CMM's using Calypso software
- Active DOE Q Clearance
