As Shifamed's portfolio of companies continues to expand, we are looking for creative medical device engineering talent interested in working in a fast-paced and innovative environment. Tioga Medical, a privately held portfolio company of Shifamed LLC, is focused on providing elegant valve replacement solutions for mitral and tricuspid applications that are procedurally simpler and use a less invasive, transcatheter approach. We are currently looking for a technician who is a creative and collaborative team player that can work with direction and independently. This position represents an exciting opportunity to join the Tioga team in its early stage and help us develop a product from proof of concept to being ready for clinical use.
POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Materials Manager will be responsible for buying and planning activities related to the purchase, material control, inventory control and shipping/receiving and stores function. Develops material schedules and coordinates efficient movement of materials with purchasing, production, engineering and quality assurance. Plans and implements requirements for purchasing materials. Ensures material is purchased and in stock to meet Company requirements while maintaining inventory levels. Establishes and maintains the production control system. Manages the Company MFP system as primary interface with database programmer. Works in conformance with Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned on an individual basis:
  • Plans and implements activities related to Production Builds, Finished Goods Inventory, material purchase and control, inventory control, shipping/receiving and stores functions.
  • Interacts with vendors and internal departments in the execution of Company operating tasks. Monitors aspects related to cost, schedule and performance of key suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Maintains and works to Company SOPs. Ensures that procedures are adequate for materials and purchasing functions to conform to business and Quality System requirements.
  • Participates as a member of Project Teams representing the Operations department, as assigned.
  • Conducts inventory audits and cycle counts, as necessary.
  • Participates in vendor qualification and vendor audits, as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Requires a BS/BA degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in the areas of materials and inventory processing.
  • 5+ years experience purchasing and/or planning for a medical device manufacturer preferred.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral and must be computer literate.
  • Knowledge of MRP systems and demonstrated proficiency with material and purchasing software packages.
