Peerless Pump, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking a Materials Utility/Fork Lift Operator to join its Logistics Team.
This position reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility (1st shift).
Material Utility is a very critical position within the logistics team, being key stakeholder to guarantee high delivery performance towards the domestic and international customer being responsible for maintain production and distribution of product by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies, staging finish products and receiving material from vendors in a timely fashion. Material Utility may uses manual, electric or gas powered material handling equipment to transport, move, and/or store heavy materials, machinery and equipment within the plant from location to location to facilitate efficient and accurate flow of materials pursuant to work instructions.
Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect material and product for completeness and accuracy regard to receipt, storage, or shipment;
- Pack, unpack, break down, store, labeling and organize material;
- Report and track errors, defects, and shortages pursuant to procedure; Performs manual and electronic record keeping and information retrieval functions;
- Build skids and/or crates for product and make minor repairs or adjustments;
- Complete write-up sheets and paperwork daily for processing domestic & international shipments;
- Track and verify heat treat wood records per regulatory requirements;
- Maintains fork lift equipment and complete preventative maintenance checklist;
- Pick-up or deliver material using a car or truck;
- Provide training and instruction to other employees as required; Help team with projects or tasks as necessary;
- Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Able to be forklift certified; Able to be Hazmat certified
- Material handling equipment (Lift truck, two wheeled truck, carts, etc.)
- Operate cranes, hoist, screw jacks, hydraulic jacks
- Computer (MS Windows, Lab View, Excel)
- Manual, power driven, and pneumatic hand tools, electronic engraver, Power saw, cutoff wheel, grinders, hydraulic press, radial drill, arbor press, Arc Welding, acetylene cutting equipment and threading machine
- Precision measuring instruments, gages, meters
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds; Ability to bend, squat, sit, walk, and stand.
- Pay attention to details;

- Ability to structure workload and prioritize tasks;
- Customer centricity on every task;
- Positive attitude, team working (offer help when low workload);
- Escalate when need help
- Identify the target and workload for the day and define a plan to get things done (accountability);
- Good computer skills
- WM experience in SAP an advantage
- Good at organizing and structuring (5S)
- Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with company policy and established safety standards;
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED/HSE or HiSET (preferred)
- 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of both.
