Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Verifies and maintains records on incoming shipments of items needed in the production process and outgoing shipments of products. Responsible for retrieving, loading, packing, and moving various raw materials, aftermarket parts, and finished goods within the company premises.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Follows all company safety rules and policies.
  • Performs any combination of following tasks to receive, store and distribute various parts items within production area.
  • Conveys items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas by hand, handtruck or electric handtruck.
  • Sorts and places items on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence, such as size, type, style, color or product code.
  • Fills requisitions, customer orders, work orders or requests for stock items and distributes items to appropriate production employees or assembly line. Prepares/completes necessary paperwork for all transactions.
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and conveys orders to shipping area.
  • Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments of parts and products. Compares identifying information of shipments received or sent to ensure accuracy.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Removes and delivers damaged parts off the production floor to the proper site.
  • Responsible for becoming knowledgeable of manufacturing processes, warehouse and production floor parts inventory procedures.
  • Reviews for production lines and ensures needed parts/items are delivered in a timely manner for their use.
  • May opens containers using small hand tools and distribute contents to proper location in the building.
  • May prepare items for shipment following appropriate procedures for a specific item.
  • May post weights of items and shipping charges and affix postage.
  • Routes items to proper area of production floor.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Transports various parts items or refrigeration model units from one location of the production facility to another upon request of co-workers or supervisors.
  • May be required to assist in crating finished units prior to movement to shipping department.
  • If assisting in crating duties, responsible for matching shipping labels to the correct unit, checking serial tag number to that listed in the shop pack and ensuring that proper packaging is used.
  • May be required to count the inventory of refrigeration model units and parts weekly and report shortages to supervisor and/or vendor.
  • Inspects products and processes while performing job duties to ensure all work done meets or exceeds standards of the company’s quality program.
  • Works cooperatively and congenially with co-workers to achieve cohesive and productive work processes and work environment.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned by management or as the situation requires.

Qualifications
  • Minimum one-year experience in purchasing, material movement, aftermarket parts operations, or inventory operations -
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders or pick orders.
  • Ability to use a variety of small hand tolls and power tools.
  • If required to operate a forklift, a minimum one-year experience OSHA trained.
  • Ability to perform basic computer operation procedures and capable of learning programs used in the work process.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with co-workers.
