Material Handler

JOB SUMMARY:

This job involves maintaining housekeeping in the bay, pulling work orders, loading & unloading trucks and following all instructions given by leaders, supervisors and managers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Read and follow the operating procedure for material handling that applies to your specific work area.
• Check all material for quality report any problems to the bay leader.
• Pull and label orders using work orders.
• Check every load for quality, weight distribution, material placement and safe loading practice.
• Unload incoming material and stock it in its correct location.
• Load trucks using a lineup.
• Complete any task designated by leaders or supervisors.
• Maintain housekeeping and 6-S initiatives.
• Comply with all safety rules and use required PPE at all times.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must have superior measuring skills with measuring tape, calipers, and micrometers.
• Must be able to safely operate an overhead crane.
• Skilled in material identification including shape, thickness, width, length, grade, weight per foot, finish, material type and any description accepted as industry standard.
• Able to accurately count large amounts of material.
• Must be able to read work orders and accurately pull material per specification.
• Must have good quality control skills.
• Must be able and willing to follow directions given by management.
• Must be able to get on and off trailers using a ladder or truck steps.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lb
• Must have good communication skills.
• Be able and willing to work 45-55 hours per week
• Maintain a reasonable standard of dress, grooming, cleanliness, personal conduct and speech.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
