Job Description

Kyocera International, Inc has an exciting opening for a Master Scheduler in our Vancouver, WA facility! This is an outstanding role for a talented and ambitious Scheduler that is positioned at the intersection of Manufacturing, R&D, and Product management/Strategic planning.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Master Scheduler is responsible for planning and coordinating process/production runs to fabricate material, including setting up/maintaining systems to track work orders, verifying availability and inspection of all necessary parts and consumables, scheduling and coordinating staff time, run time, and machine up/down time.

The Master Scheduler will interface with key stakeholders and machine operators/technicians for scheduling of work orders, equipment, materials and other activities (including prototypes, engineering and/or production runs). The Master Scheduler may also communicate daily with customer service staff and sales engineers on delivery schedules, if applicable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates independent decision making skills on day to day scheduling tasks.
  • Updates Sales and/or Engineering Departments on an ongoing basis with current schedule and any schedule changes, including Lead Time.
  • Develops/creates/formats schedule for use in daily and weekly meetings and oversees timely distribution to appropriate staff. Initiates corrective action when schedule is not met.
  • Receives orders and creates work orders in SAP per requirements.
  • Addresses questions or missing information with production, engineering, and QA staff.
  • Ensures that runs are prioritized and that raw materials are available as schedules are created.
  • Understands profit policies of the company and importance of On Time Delivery (OTD). Drives metrics related to OTD and tracks results.
  • Schedules production runs to ensure products are produced and delivered on time. Works with Production Management/Engineering to schedule production orders for maximum machine utilization and in concert with available machines and staffing.
  • Coordinates purchase, calibration and tracking of production tools and related ERP entries.
  • Maintains and updates relevant documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Four year college degree, or equivalent experience resulting in broad knowledge of a field related to the job, such as accounting, marketing, business administration, agriculture etc, plus 5 years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2+ years in materials processing, chemical processing or semiconductor processing is highly desirable.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to read, analyze, and understand common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; Ability to respond to complex or difficult inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Under direction where a definite objective is set up and the employee plans and arranges own work, referring only unusual cases to supervisor.

Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work, in addition, the work operations of a group of employees, all performing basically the same type of work.

ACCURACY
Probable errors of internal and external scope would have a moderate effect on the operational efficiency of the organizational component concerned. Errors might possibly go undetected for a considerable period of time, thereby creating an inaccurate picture of an existing situation. Could cause further errors, losses, or embarrassment to the organization. The possibility for error is always present due to requirements of the job.

PUBLIC CONTACT
Occasional routine contacts with persons outside the organization. This would include contacts with suppliers, mail service, etc.

EMPLOYEE CONTACT
Contacts with other departments or offices and also frequently with individuals in middle level positions; consulting on problems which necessitate judgment and tact in presentation to obtain cooperation or approval of action to be taken. Also, important contacts with associates as required in advanced supervisory jobs.

SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED
Advanced: Spreadsheet
Intermediate: Alphanumeric Data Entry, Enterprise Resource Planning
Basic: 10-Key, Database, Word Processing/Typing

ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE SKILLS
Laptop computer, monitor, fax machine and copy machines, computer software including MS Office, Adobe, SAP, e-mail, scanner, scale, calculator and telephone.
