Production Supervisor - Night Shift
West Bridgewater, MA
Description
Direct, supervise and coordinate the activities of employees performing machine operating duties and inspection procedures in compliance with company and customer requirements.
DUTIES:
- Review production schedule with appropriate plant personnel and discuss priorities and problems with Operations Manager. Assign orders to machine operators.
- Discuss quality requirements with the Quality Department and the Process Engineering Manager.
- Check orders at machines to confirm they are in the correct production order. Advise lead operators of production schedule and assign orders to machine operators.
- Check with machine operators to ensure correct set ups and procedures are being used. Check with machine operators to be sure that SOP’s are performed at the start of the shift.
- Ensure samples are cut for lab tests. A re-check of lab results on tests and ensures results are properly recorded.
- Review production orders progress and adjust machine schedule to ensure compliance. Check availability of material for pending orders.
- Supervise, participate, and assist in the operation of all Production processes as needed.
- Complete daily log of any changes to machines, products, rush orders and problems.
- Check all machines to ensure proper set-ups.
- Ensure adequate inventories of all department supplies are on hand.
- Complete Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for rejected material and have material moved to QC.
- Coordinate machine maintenance and repairs on an as needed basis with Maintenance Department.
- Conduct annual performance reviews of shift employees. Recommend wage adjustments.
- Ensure that employees are properly trained and certified.
- Verify that company policies and procedures are complied with and personnel related issues are resolved. Participate in the hiring process and offer advice and suggestions on employment and disciplinary actions.
- Participate in Safety Committee meetings. Complete safety inspection forms. Review safety tour findings and industrial accidents and take corrective action.
- Perform other duties as assigned or as required.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred as a minimum required, some college background preferred.
- Strong leadership skills, able to work effectively under pressure and work with a variety of different personalities.
communication skills, both written and verbal, to prepare various paperwork, enter and analyze data in the computer, train employees and complete all other job-related tasks.
- Internal applicants must possess a thorough knowledge of Shawmut’s manufacturing operations. Some supervisory or lead experience preferred
- External applicants must have 2-3 years previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Possess good math skill to a high school education.
Job Type: Full-time
