Mascot Assistant/Handler

Are you a baseball fan who wants to get experience behind the scenes? Do you consider yourself as someone who can help create a fun atmosphere? The High Point Rockers are seeking an outgoing, organized, and motivated candidate to serve as a handler for the team’s official mascot, HYPE, for the 2021 season.
Responsibilities

• Accompany HYPE while performing game duties and designated off-site appearances.
• Assist with taking pictures, signing autographs, and improving the overall guest experience.
• Act as the “eyes, ears, and voice” for HYPE, including awareness of game progression, in-game scheduling, stadium navigation, fan requests, and potential hazards.
• Carry mascot supplies (t-shirts, props, etc.) when necessary.
• Assist HYPE with preparation and execution of on-field skits/routines, in-game entertainment, and provide logistical support during games and appearances.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work flexible hours, including afternoons, nights, and weekends.
• Must possess incredible interpersonal communication skills.
• Must be incredibly responsible and possess utmost professionalism.
• Strong leadership skills and positive attitude a must.
• Ability to take direction and constructive criticism.
• Ability to work incredibly well under pressure (strong improvisation skills a plus).
• Must be able to relate with fans of all ages and demographics.
• Must be punctual and possess good time management.
• Must possess basic knowledge of baseball.
• Must possess the ability to perform in front of large groups.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in a high activity and heavily crowded professional sports venue in all weather extremes for extended periods of time.
• Position will require standing for long periods of time, walking/running long distances, climbing up/down stairs and/or maneuvering over, under, and around seats and rails.
• Will be required to stoop, kneel, crouch.
• Ability to lift/move/carry items weighing up to 30lbs on occasion.
