Argus Metal Prices is a rapidly-expanding daily report and online service covering the whole metal recycling supply chain.
We are looking for a reporter to focus on domestic ferrous scrap metal markets. In this role, you will apply and develop your reporting skills across pricing, news and analysis, and play a key role in expanding the service’s coverage.

We are looking for a reporter to focus on domestic ferrous scrap metal markets. In this role, you will apply and develop your reporting skills across pricing, news and analysis, and play a key role in expanding the service’s coverage.
Responsibilities
Produce accurate price assessments and insightful market commentary for North American ferrous scrap market.- Maintain and develop an extensive contact book and develop coverage through the launch of new assessments and news-gathering.
- Be rigorous in applying the methodology and internal compliance processes.
- Engage with the industry to ensure a close understanding of market developments through daily contact with traders, producers, consumers and other key market figures to build relationships and gather news and price information.
- Contribute high-quality and original news and analysis to the report and the online news service.
- Provide subject-matter expertise to other Argus Departments.
- Represent Argus at conferences, events and face-to-face meetings with market participants, raising brand awareness of the company – which is relatively new to the ferrous space but expanding rapidly.
An understanding of commodity market dynamics is helpful.- Experience sourcing, developing and writing industry-relevant news to deadline.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build contacts with industry executives.
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English, and strong numeracy skills.
- Qualified to at least degree level from a four-year university.
- Demonstrable commitment to continuous learning and ability to demonstrate structured problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong co-ordination and time management skills with the ability to work well within a team.
