Job Discipline Description
- Helps collect, maintain, and develop data sets and models to support price forecasting, supply, demand, capacity, trade data, costs, and margins for one or more commodities with a focus on refined products (gasoline, distillates, jet fuel) as well as other chemicals as needed.
- Updates and writes two special topics per month to be published in the Monthly Feedstocks & Fuels Analysis report.
- Writes and contributes to the publication of the Monthly Petrochemical & Plastics Analysis report to be distributed to clients covering short, medium, and long- term developments in each product covered with a focus on the Americas.
- Works with commodity analysts at CDI and ICIS in other regions to communicate regional market drivers and trends across different commodity markets.
- Helps support and participate in the ongoing data integration process between CDI and ICIS.
- Collates, models, interprets, and analyzes data; explains variances and trends.
- Networks with key industry participants to stay abreast of new developments and new opportunities that may impact market fundamentals.
- Identifies and documents enhancements to modeling techniques and data inputs.
Recommended Skills/Experience
- Basic knowledge and interest in the global refining / petrochemicals industry, especially pertaining to the United States.
- College degree is required (Chemical Engineering is highly desirable). 3-5 years of industry experience within a refinery is preferred.
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial desire to learn and develop subject matter expertise.
- Curious, motivated, enthusiastic, and analytical with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent analytical, verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Must be an independent employee with the ability to plan your own work schedule ensuring objectives are met and projects/reports are delivered on time.
- Strong initiative and willingness to learn in a fast-paced information business environment.
- Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel & PowerPoint and willingness to learn new applications. Must be able to summarize, write, and clearly communicate market assessments.
- High proficiency in written and spoken English - additional language skills a plus.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple assignments at once.
