Overview: We are currently seeking a Naval Architect or Marine Engineer with maritime expert witness experience. The candidate will provide consulting and testimony services for legal, insurance, and corporate clients, specifically with respect to Marine related assignments. The consultant would be expected to be able to inspect and analyze maritime incidents, including vessel collisions and allisions, cargo damage, salvage and personal injuries aboard vessels. Additionally, would be able to analyze and provided technical consulting services for other maritime matters such as vessel construction and repair disputes. You will comply with all company operating procedures and policies while maintaining a high level of customer/client satisfaction and work to develop new and repeat business. You should be able to acknowledge client concerns and respond quickly to resolve problems. - Experience with a wide array of vessel types including recreational vessels, cargo ships, small passenger vessels, and cruise ships desired.
- Assists in the hiring of new staff. Trains inexperienced staff on how the Marine Practice Area operates.
- Leads by example and establishes a positive, professional work environment.
- Reviews and ensures that Reports of Findings prepared by staff members meet a minimum standard of accuracy/professionalism and are properly signed and sealed.
- Assists in marketing activities to promote the Marine Practice Area and build relationships with current and future clients.
- Helps develop an annual business plan for the continued growth and profitability of the Marine Practice Area.
- Resolves issues that are presented by our clients in a quick and satisfactory manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- B.S. degree required
- Engineering degree in naval architecture, marine engineering or other closely related field.
- Marine forensic experience required.
- P.E. license a plus.
- USCG Issued Master’s or Chief Engineer’s License also a plus.
- Minimum of 15 years’ professional experience.
- Experience with Classification Society Rules, ABYC Rules, and Marine ISO Standards a plus.
- Experience with wide array of materials including composites, aluminum, and steel.
- Past supervisory/management experience desired.
- Professionalism and ability to handle details of a confidential nature.
- Strong critical-thinking and interpersonal skills.
- Superior verbal/written communication skills.
