We are looking for 2nd Shift Manufacturing Machine Operator to operate out of our Visalia facility.

Job SummaryMaintain the pace required to operate the Davis Standard, Sheet Line Winders including identifying packaging product and preparing product for storage. Training will also include related hardware, PPE, LOTO, & sharps handling. Operator will follow Safety training, Winder tracking, Load Cell data entry, and be signed off in accordance to standards. Operator will follow instructions of Lead, Senior Training Operator, Supervisor.

Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesTechnical Skills
  • Know and follow all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) proper usage and policies from Die area to Winders.
  • Know and follow Company Emergency Response Plan, Fire Prevention Program and policies.
  • Know and follow Oil Spill Containment procedures, Hazardous Communication policies.
  • Understand and utilizes Material Specification (M-Specs) documents for extruded foam sheet.
  • Understand and utilizes Manufacturing Orders (M.O.) for quantity and quality accuracy.
  • Demonstrate a competent ability to operate safely the Winders for S-1, S-3, S-4 efficiently including the cut down.
  • Demonstrate a competent ability to operate Line Perforation system, and Slitter Blade operation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to assist with line string up at Die area, Pull rolls, and Winders for all Extruders.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the Reclaim area from safe efficient Grinder operation to Davis Standard & PTI pelletizers.
  • Know Waste procedures, Core Cutter safe operation, Core Recycling techniques, as well as Raw Material Locations.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform accurate Gauge checks, Cell counts, Basis weight, Load Cell data tracker.
  • Demonstrate accurate data entry into AVIS & SPC production systems.

  • Problem Solving:
    • Able to identify material that is out of specifications compared to in specification material (Bad & Good) and inform Lead of the specific non- compliant aspect
  • Teamwork:
    • Demonstrate the ability to work well with others.
    • Willing to follow instructions as required from whoever offers it as the situation warrants.
    • Must understand total team concepts required to effectively and efficiently keep department as well as immediately assigned area running smoothly.
  • Communication:
    • Able to communicate effectively with others in verbal or written form.
    • Possess basic comprehension of both oral and written instruction.
    • Understand that communication is a critical function to effective operation regardless of time of service or skill level.
  • Training:
    • Must complete orientation safety training.
    • Participate in operational skills training and demonstrate the ability to learn and apply new skills.
    • Learn and follow all safety policies, complete all safety sign off training sheets relating to level 1 operator training.
Leadership Skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow instruction but also offer instruction after initial 90 days, assist new hires or temporary associates with safety and operation skills.
  • Show the ability to offer help and ask for help before it is a critical need.

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or credentialed equivalent in English & Mathematics.
  • Working Conditions: Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods; ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 50 pounds and endure elevated temperature levels.
  • Shift Availability:

    • First shift: 7:00 am till 3:30 pm
    • Second Shift: 3:00 pm till 11:30 pm
    • Third Shift: 11:00 pm till 7:30 am
  • Overtime requirements: Overtime as needed daily or weekends based upon business needs
  • Additional auxiliary equipment: Possess or learn the ability to operate Forklift, Cranes, Floor Jacks, Saws, Knives (other hand tools).
Attendance
  • Must maintain an acceptable attendance record of 4 points or less for consideration of level increase.
