Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Oversees the execution of the development and implementation of information technology (IT) applications and applications systems analysis and programming activities that enable the organization's business processes.
- Consults and advises leadership in determining and developing IT application strategies and effective integration of these strategies to meet organization-wide business needs.
- Represents the organization when selecting IT hardware and software vendors to ensure organization IT needs are met according to cost, performance, delivery, quality, and service standards.
- Conducts organization-wide IT quality assurance and audits to ensure compliance with defined standards.
- Directs, motivates, develops and manages the performance of the IT Applications management team and key staff.

This role will be responsible for the following areas bringing an engineering and technology first mindset to solving problems:
- Quality and Chaos Engineering:
- Responsible for leading technology teams that will perform Performance Testing, Automated Regression / Blended Testing and Chaos Engineering Testing
- Manage the peak season planning initiative working directly with internal partners and application owners
- Partner with the architects and development team to ensure proper metrics instrumentation and facilitate real time performance monitoring
- Identify Key KPIs and performance scripts are designed to capture the application response around core KPIs
- Drive engineering, certification and security aspects of Application Performance Management monitoring tools and services
- Work with Engineering Leads and Architects to define coverage plan for regression /blended testing and chaos testing
- Product Performance Engineering:
- Responsible for tagging and product performance tracking that involves building new and novel mechanisms to collect, report and alert on operations and outcomes of all digital and channel initiatives and platforms
- Engineering mindset to build tools and libraries to embed within digital and channel technology platforms
- Real time data collection, reporting and alerting of outcomes, trends and anomalies
- Customer obsession and product experience metrics to analyze and report on customer experience index of our platforms
- Risk Engineering:
- Create a vision for how we can leverage technology to transform the user experience to reduce the burden of managing risk
- Partner with risk and business leaders across the company to reimagine risk management activities and outcomes and bring a technology first mindset to prevent risk
- Coordinate and report on Risk items across the organization for consolidated and consistent report back to the CAO
- Controls Automation & Secure by Design:
- Create a vision for controls automation as it pertains to the following safety and soundness areas in digital and channel space
- Vulnerabilities tracking
- Hydration mechanism and controls
- Certificate Management technology
- Operational Excellence:
- Partner with the architects and development team to ensure resiliency engineering and perform controlled chaos testing
- Identify opportunities for remediation and coordinate roadmaps and plans to improve resiliency
- Automated tracking of production issues and trends
Add’l Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Manages, coaches, directs and assesses performance and coordinates with direct reports to ensure and facilitate execution of the business’s application development strategies and objectives and to foster team member engagement, motivation and development
- Leading internal experimental and pilot projects to determine the applicability, functionality, and viability of applying new technologies to particular business issues
- Collaborating with other top-level management and technology heads across the company while taking an active role in determining overall company technology and development strategies
Experience Requirements
- Experience in recruiting, managing engineering teams
- Excellent communication and presentation skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- Critical eye for product design, well-versed in good design principles especially around data applications
- Ability to adapt and handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies and short release cycles
- Experience with Performance metrics and tooling, performance R&D
- Experience with AWS, Scala, ElasticSearch, JMeter, Postgres/MySQL, Redis, Kafka, Pulsar, and Kubernetes
- Technical expertise in distributed systems technologies, and cloud deployment (provisioning, multi-tenancy, frameworks, and tools for system monitoring, logging)
- Experience with Dynatrace and other system performance tools
- Experience with building real time data collection and reporting systems
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
