Job Description
The Manager, Talent & Leadership Development is responsible to manage the talent development initiatives for the Store organization. They will drive and facilitate projects, programs and initiatives to support our stores for new hire onboarding & orientation, product knowledge and sales training, leadership development, and career development. This role will partner closely with the Store HR Business Partners, key business stakeholders, and within the Talent & Leadership Development team.

  • Lead the design, development, implementation and evaluation of development strategy, curriculum and leadership development programs for all levels of the Stores organization.
  • Lead the process to assess and evaluate organizational need for programs that facilitate the professional development, career development and succession planning of Team Members, emerging leaders and executives.
  • Manage training requests from multiple stakeholders and prioritize the training and development needs of the organization.
  • Manage talent development programs through design, development & delivery of Tractor Supply University programs for all levels of the organization.
  • Manage the communication and marketing of training and development programs through appropriate channels.
  • Partner with HRBPs to design, develop and deliver competency based development actions, plans and reporting.
  • Design, develop and deliver digital learning programs, including micro and macro learning.
  • Partner with HRBPs to provide tools and resources for development planning process for key employees.

Qualifications: Experience: 7+ years of experience in talent development program management, including directing, managing, designing, developing, facilitating, implementing and evaluating talent development initiatives. Retail or Store Operations training experience preferred. Experience leading training programs, designing, developing and delivering Leadership Development and Professional Development programs is required. Vendor management experience for design, development and facilitation is required. Digital learning experience, curriculum and content management required. Experience directing talent management & succession planning process is preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Adult Education, or related field is preferred. Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, Adult Education, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related field is desired. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Professional Certifications: Certified Professional in Talent Development preferred.

  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design, and talent development.
  • Ability to partner and consult with the business.
  • Ability to develop and organize a wide range of training content based on business need.
  • Problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities in an organized manner.
  • Ability to pull resources together to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to facilitate learning events in multiple settings (i.e. in-person, virtual instructor led, digital asynchronous, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to speak effectively to large groups and present to key leadership teams.
  • Program Management skills.
  • Vendor Management skills
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate the effectiveness of the training programs.
  • Ability to work as a business partner with all leadership levels within TSC.
