JOB SUMMARY
The Employee Health Manager is responsible for coordinating and facilitating medical and rehabilitation needs of staff with work related injuries so as to insure appropriate utilization of services and resources, improve continuity and standardization of care and to contribute to improved partner satisfaction and outcomes. The Employee Health Manager (EHM) acts as a case manager for all Mercyhealth partner workers' compensation, ADA reasonable accommodation and employee health records across the clinical, psychosocial, and financial continuum. The EHM oversees the day-to-day activities of other Employee Health department staff and has 24/7 accountability. The EHM is responsible for the EH department budget, conducting timely annual reviews, hiring, and discipline of staff. The EHM is responsible for establishing and maintaining "return to work" - "light duty" programs for Mercyhealth. Additional responsibilities include tracking and reporting data on employee injuries, the cost of lost time due to these injuries, plus data on sick pay and disability costs. The EHM must also interpret federal, state, and local rules and regulations in the workers' compensation arena. The EHM is responsible for coordinating a system ergonomics program and establishing a system Employee Health/Injury Prevention Committee, and also participates in the following committees: Safety, Wellness, Ergonomics, Workplace Violence Prevention and Influenza. This is a working manager and this individual reviews all employee health work and follows up when necessary. The EHM ensures that all partners comply with Employee Health policies, reviews and assists with development of policies and procedures regarding Employee Health and is backup for the RNs when on vacation. Duties include assisting with all vaccinations, fit testing, TB screen readings, and blood pressures and are required to interpret vaccine requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides the full scope of Employee Health services to assigned work units/areas. Uses data to assess assigned areas and demonstrates the ability to develop strategies and action plans to address issues
  • Delivers Mercyhealth partner orientation via securing Employee Health screening and paperwork for successful on-boarding of new partners. Follows up with new partners to obtain necessary Employee Health information/paperwork
  • Oversees and coordinates the Employee Health Staff and day to day operations
  • Manages the Workers Compensation program and tracks injuries system-wide
  • Works with WC Insurance carriers to process and settle claims
  • Tracks and trends work related injuries, and looks for processed to reduce the number of injuries
  • Completes the OSHA logs and government posting requirements
  • Coordinates Fitness for Duty evaluations system-wide
  • Oversee all ADA accommodation requests including investigating how we can provide the accommodations
  • Coordinates the respiratory protection program
  • Oversee the annual Influenza vaccination program and works with EH staff to provide accurate records; reviews the medical exemption system-wide
  • Monitors Employee Health budget in coordination with the Senior Director and adheres to budget allotment guidelines

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
BSN from an accredited school of nursing required. Supervisory experience preferred. Employee Health, Workers Compensation, and Fit for Duty and ADA experience preferred. Two to five years of acute care, general medical/surgical experience required.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Registered Nurse with WI and IL licensure (WI or IL required upon hire-must obtain the opposite within 90 days of hire)
Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) preferred
Certified Case Manager (CCM) preferred
