About This Role:
The Department of Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and Health is seeking applications for a Research Assistant Professor and Manager, Olathe Sensory and Consumer Research Center.

The Sensory and Consumer Research Center is part of the Sensory Program at Kansas State University in the Department of Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and Health. This will be a 12-month, 100% grant/contract funded, term, non-tenure track position at K-State Olathe. The Center is an integral part of the mission of the Olathe Campus related to Food Safety and Security and Animal Health. The individual will report to the Department Head of Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and Health.

This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day acquisition, management, and implementation of contract consumer research studies. Other expectations for this position may include teaching courses, developing workshop series, writing grants, assisting with descriptive studies, and supervising students and part-time staff to conduct research studies. This individual will collaborate with Olathe staff responsible for K-12 relationships in the local community and conduct studies better suited to the Olathe/Greater Kansas City area. This person is also expected to collaborate on multi-disciplinary funding opportunities.

Specifically, the individual will:
Develop and implement the goals, objectives, and programs of the K-State Olathe Sensory and Consumer Research Center as part of the Sensory Program.
Work in collaboration with other Sensory faculty to develop and implement common strategies for the good of the Sensory program and its students.
Develop professional contacts, write proposals, conduct research studies, analyze data, report results, and manage the day-to-day operation of the Sensory and Consumer Research Center.
Develop and write research and educational grant proposals, both individually and collaboratively.
Prepare and give presentations for companies and local and professional organizations.
Plan and teach workshops, academic courses, and develop community outreach programs.
Perform additional functions, as assigned

To be Successful You Will Need:Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. with an emphasis in sensory analysis, consumer research, or closely related field.
Experience conducting sensory studies using quantitative and qualitative consumer research methodology.
Training in statistics, including knowledge of data collection and statistical analysis programs, including Compusense, XLSTAT, SAS, etc.
Industry experience in project management of sensory analysis or marketing research.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Refereed publications
Experience working with trained descriptive panels
Teaching experience in Higher Education or Professional Development Workshops
Ability to train and mentor staff and students
Experience with grant writing and submission
