Advise clients in the development of marketing and advertising plans with existing clients. Provide information on client development potential to the Sr. Director of Communications Shared Service (CSS) and contribute to the strategic planning for future CSS department services, evolution and growth. Identify new business targets and opportunities.
Duties/Responsibilities
MANAGEMENT OF KEY CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS:
- Ensuring that providing excellent service and results is focus of all client interactions
- Maximizing the potential of each account and expanding the role of CSS to help clients meet their objectives using the full range of services offered by the department
- Identifying resource needs and recommending an account team/project management team to best serve each client’s needs
- Client consultation (clarifying needs, objectives, target audience, budget, timelines,
messaging, etc) - Providing project financial estimates and budget planning
- Account/Project management (interact with clients, ensure jobs are delivered within the agreed budget and timescales, and to a high standard)
- Obtain client feedback on CSS performance and provide to CSS staff
- Provide regular troubleshooting and problem solving to resolve issues that could affect project outcomes and relationships with clients
- Leading account teams to develop and facilitate branding, product introduction and marketing communication brainstorming sessions
- Marketing planning support (developing solutions to accomplish strategic marketing objectives)
- Project management (ensuring jobs are delivered within the agreed budget and timescales, and to a high standard)
STRATEGIC MARKETING ADVICE FOR KEY CLIENTS:
- Work with clients to establish brand positioning solutions
- Help clients establish communication objectives to support marketing efforts
- Help client create marketing communication strategies to achieve brand and project objectives
- Help ensure marketing communication strategies align with client and group goals
- Determine tactics to achieve marketing communications strategies
- Help client develop and implement specific marketing communication tactics to achieve client goals and objectives.
COACHING/MANAGING ACCOUNT/PROJECT MANAGEMENT RELATIONS TEAM
- Supervising day-to-day workload and client contact of account handling staff
- Partner with Design, Operations and Content leads to ensure that staff is well matched to account/project requirements
- Mentoring staff to develop their account management, project management and customer service capabilities
- Identify training needs
- Conducting annual appraisals and regular staff evaluations and providing feedback
- Providing recommendations for overall staffing levels in the account handling function
- Authorizing use/management of account coordinators, project management and traffic freelancers
DEPARTMENTAL PROJECT PLANNING/WORKFLOW MANAGEMENT
- Developing appropriate tools, mechanisms, policies and procedures for traffic and project management
- Providing ongoing analysis of account handling performance and ways of maximizing efficiency
- Distribution of specific projects/accounts among staff
- Monitoring individual project performance against budget and timescales
STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT OF NEW ACCOUNTS /MISC NEEDS
- As assigned by manager
- Involved in policy development/process improvements as needed
- Actively promoting the Department’s capabilities and services to new clients
- Developing tools to promote and explain CSS’ role and mission
PROBLEM SOLVING
Position would make decisions related to:
Assisting and counseling internal businesses on how their marketing budgets are allocated among various potential marketing vehicles and channels. Staff Management – includes resolving any issues when creative staff needs workflow guidance or support to complete client projects Customer Projects – includes determining the best and most cost efficient utilization of department resources to meet customers’ needs (staff, creative solutions, marketing communications strategies and tools).
PLANNING
The job requires the individual to be able to anticipate and understand client’s need to plan production schedules. Daily, weekly and monthly planning is required in the scheduling of time. This permits the greatest number of jobs to be produced in the allocated time span. Planning and production involves weeks and sometimes months of, organization, production scheduling and supervision of resources.
Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related business field and advanced knowledge of marketing and business acumen are needed.
10+ years experience with an advertising or marketing agency, or in an “in-house” marketing role. In-depth knowledge of marketing strategic planning and excellent knowledge of marketing trends, tools and techniques is required. Solid computer skills are required, especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Workfront experience preferred.
Excellent time management, project management, communication, organization, presentation and interpersonal skills are necessary. The ability to guide a team and work co-operatively across all creative functions is also needed. Facilitation experience a plus.
