Information Services at Vidant Health
Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC. The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 2 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the IT Director this position is responsible for a variety of functions and initiatives within the Medical Imaging area to ensure the best possible computing experience for users at Vidant Health. The role is responsible for the organization, oversight, direction, and execution of overall operating, functional and human resource responsibilities within the assigned areas of Medical Imaging Applications.
This resource provides primary guidance and task assignment for the team while balancing day-to-day support, incident investigation & resolution, and new projects and implementations. The position works with the staff to assess urgency, importance, and prioritization of work efforts spanning multiple systems and facilities. The IT Medical Imaging Manager is responsible for continuous familiarity with all team activities, bringing items for leadership feedback when necessary.
The incumbent will regularly interact, influence and brief senior management and IS executives.
Imaging Applications used include: Philips: iSite, Intellispace ECG, ISCV, Xper; Nuance PowerScribe, PowerShare; GE: MacLab; Hyland: Acuo VNA, ImageNext, NilRead; Provation MD; and Epic: Clinical, Radiant
Responsibilities
- Mentor and lead a team of imaging application analysts including creating professional development plan
- Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to set direction, balance priorities across simultaneous projects, and meet objectives
- Communicates enterprise imaging strategy, industry standards, relevant technology and business standards/policies
- Defines domain-specific imaging design and ensures best practices align with enterprise imaging strategy and industry standards
- Evaluates and anticipates the impact of imaging application and system solutions on related projects
- Provides consultative advice and recommendations to management for the selection and implementation of imaging systems
- Creates imaging technology roadmaps and thought leadership for long-term strategic solutions
- Evaluates and anticipates the impact of technical solutions on related projects and on the business
- Represents domain-specific topics, interests and needs. Serves as the Imaging Subject Matter Expert across multiple projects
- Experience with complex, application and/or system implementations within a multi-disciplinary environment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High-level consultation skills to effectively interpret customer needs and create appropriate system solution
- Strong working knowledge of electronic medical record systems and workflows
- Outstanding grasp of data analysis and analytics to identify trends and predict future needs
- Familiarity and experience with systems integration, including HL7 & interface engines
- Solid understanding of day-to-day operations and workflows within imaging and radiology departments, including differences between specific imaging modalities
- Advanced communication skills and ability to effectively/tactfully communicate difficult/sensitive information
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Strong leadership and motivation skills
- Able to remain focused and effectively adapt to a rapidly changing environment
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment Ensure Service Level Agreements are defined and met
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Business or related field strongly preferred
- At least ten (10) years in the Information Technology field, including at least five (5) years working with clinical imaging systems or applications
- Experience in Philips iSite and cardiology PACS and Hyland Acuo VNA preferred
