What You'll Do:
We're searching for an experienced engineering leader who's passionate about developing products that are simple, intuitive, and beautiful. This is a hands-on role and requires modern SaaS, API, and Big Data experience particularly working with enterprise applications for B2B. This position will be responsible for leading our customer-facing product development teams. You will be working with both onshore and offshore development teams.
We are a rapid growing company with small focused engineering teams who are delivering innovative features in a fast growing market. We build big-data systems utilizing cutting edge technologies and solutions that allow for our developers to learn and develop while shipping amazing products.
What You'll Be Responsible For:
- You will collaborate with the Product team, CTO, VP of Engineering, and Director of QA, as well as other engineering teams to build scalable solutions at a fast pace.
- You will help to scale teams and mentor individuals to be highly successful.
- You will lead highly technical teams to develop products that are used via internal teams and external customers.
- Attend stand-up meetings, planning sessions, encourage others, and collaborate at a rapid pace.
What You'll Need:
- BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Math, or related technical discipline
- Proficiency in Java, Ruby, or Elixir and JavaScript
- Understand RESTful and GraphQL APIs
- Understand best-practice UI / UX design
- Comfortable in an agile development environment
- 5+ years programming, 2+ years in a leadership role
- Must have experience leading highly technical teams
- Managers at HG serve the team and must be good coaches that can effectively clear blocks and inspire their teams
- Must have experience mentoring and leading individuals' career development
- Must have a proven track record of collaborating with product teams and other engineering teams, outside of your management responsibility.
- Must understand modern CI/CD.
- Experience with Docker or similar container technologies
- Must be a proponent of quality.
- Must have solid SDLC knowledge, preferably Agile Scrum.
- Must have experience deploying and managing applications hosted in AWS.
- Must have solid understanding of APIs & Microservices, SaaS, and at least one horizontally scaling Big Data technology.
- Must have experience with at least one modern JavaScript framework (React, Vue, Angular)
- Thrive in a fast growing environment
- Excellent written and spoken English communication
Nice-to-haves:
- You have a proven record leading teams to successful outcomes
- You've worked on Enterprise grade SaaS applications
- Familiar with web development design patterns and frameworks such as MVC and MVVM
- Experience with Erlang/Elixir
- Experience with TypeScript
- Experience with NewRelic or other Application Performance Monitoring tools
- Familiar with ElasticSearch
- Familiar with Snowflake or other Data Warehouse technologies
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, RDS, EMR, ELB etc.)
- Good knowledge of SQL
- Data Driven UX Design
