Job Summary
UT Southwestern has an opening for the position of Manager Development Communication - Constituent & Ext Relations
The Manager of Development Communications develops and implements digital communication strategies in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) to support UT Southwestern's philanthropic and alumni relations objectives. Reporting to the Director of Development and Alumni Communications, this position manages the digital communications team to inform, educate, and influence alumni, donors, and other stakeholders.
Experience/Education
Required:
Minimum Qualifications Must have a Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field, and five (5) years of related experience developing, implementing, and evaluating integrated communications products to accomplish philanthropic or alumni relations outcomes. Experience deploying email, social media, and other digital platforms creatively to accomplish business objectives.
Must have working knowledge of image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Designer, Figma, Sketch, Canva, or similar tools. Must have working knowledge of multiple social media platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using constituent relationship management (CRM) platforms such as Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, or similar produtcs.
Experience with email service provider (ESP) such as Blackbaud NetCommunity or similar providers. Knowledge of email testing platforms such as Litmus, Email on Acid, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of social media management tools such as Tweetdeck, Hootsuite, Buffer, Hubspot, or similar tools.
Job Duties:
Supervises the Communications Specialist(s) in alignment with the values of UT Southwestern and talent management best practices, ensuring effective use of institutional resources
Manages budget for digital communications and advises on budgets for communication collaborations across DAR
Monitors and oversees all DAR social media channels and content and manages necessary responses in a timely manner; maintains customer service levels in accordance with UT Southwestern standards
By staying abreast of industry best practices, standards and technologies, the manager will advances an electronic communications program, making strategic use of digital and electronic systems including, but not limited to, Engage website, online donation forms, crowdfunding platforms, e-mail marketing, social media, and other digital platforms UTSW donors interaction with.
Develops metrics, tracks effectiveness, and reports on outcomes and progress on projects and programs overseen by the Development and Alumni Communications Team, including reports on the impacts of communications strategies on gifts from donors.
Along with the Director of Development and Alumni Communications, develops and implements creative, appropriate ways for UT Southwestern to emphasize its gratitude for all philanthropic support
In collaboration with the Digital Team in Communications, Marketing, and Public Affairs, develops, implements, and manages a comprehensive, creative and forward-thinking media strategy in social networking, video sharing, web communities, and other social media technologies to promote engagement with current and prospective constituents and to interest media in UTSW philanthropy
Collaborates with the Director of Development and Alumni Communications to reiterate key themes and coordinate on messaging and consistency of voice while maintaining and improving brand integrity across all platforms and clients
Ensures planning and delivery of effective integrated communications solutions through collaborative working relationships with each functional area of DAR and UT Southwestern partners.
Performs other duties as assigned.
