Astellas is announcing a Manager Client Services opportunity in Northbrook, IL.

Purpose & Scope of Position:

The Manager Client Services will provide information and knowledge management services specializing in published information related to Astellas' key therapeutic and functional areas: health, medicine, and the pharmaceutical industry. This position works globally with all business units from discovery and development through commercial providing information solutions such as information research, project consultation, copyright advice, and supports Library Portal development / maintenance. Will adhere to all Library developed Best Practices, procedures, copyright regulations, tools and use of templates; responsible for executing complex and high-risk information searches; understanding information needs of global library customers and providing training and support to customers. Each Senior Client Services Analyst will be a primary contact for specific customer group(s) and/or products requiring strong relationships and knowledge of functional area(s) and product(s).

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Primary Library contact for specific customer group(s) or product(s) sharing knowledge of content resources and Library services while building/maintaining business awareness to resolve business' information priorities.
  • Consults with targeted customers to assesses and understands information and knowledge needs. Ability to create solutions that resolve priority business needs including recommending, trialing and troubleshooting resources. Recommends commercial and scientific information resources and tools for licensure and proposes new services.
  • Conducts in-depth literature research to provide accurate, cost-effective information in timely manner, including topic alerts to focused audiences, systematic literature reviews and curating product/project information on the Library Portal.
  • Prepares value-added deliverables of research results including visualizations, summarizations and analytics using text mining, data extraction and other tools.
  • Conducts customer focused training and coordinates with suppliers for resource specific training; provides instruction 1:1 or in group settings; takes active role in the creation of promotional and training materials.
  • Leads departmental knowledge management projects; may participate in enterprise knowledge management projects.
  • Promotes the Library, its services and resources to all internal clients to increase access and awareness. Participates in measuring, use and uptake metrics for the portal and all key resources trained on, in collaboration with the global library leadership team.

  • Develops and maintains knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical, medical device subject matters; monitors, updates, improves and applies knowledge and expertise related to information research tools, training, resources and services.

  • Stays up to date on the latest pharmaceutical library solutions and evaluates and recommends how these would address current gaps or needs. Explores and recommends best-in-class products to meet Astellas current and future needs, collaborating with library team.

Quantitative Dimensions:

This position will have direct impact on improving the best use of information research tools by Astellas Medical and Development organization, Marketing Strategy, Commercial and HR teams throughout Astellas globally by providing information research, training customers to use premium licensed content resources and demonstrating business knowledge by proactively curating information on the Library Portal. Outcomes influence business decisions including competitive/scientific intelligence, developing clinical trial protocols, deciding on location of clinical trials, safety and efficacy monitoring, and patient centricity models. May participate in enterprise knowledge management initiatives, especially focused on finding, using and formatting information.

Organizational Context:

This position will:

  • report to Assoc Dir, Information Research &Training
  • collaborates with library customers globally, and at all levels from scientist to sales & marketing; Managers, Directors, CMT Leads and executive leaders

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree or advanced degree in a physical science, business, information/library/knowledge science sciences or related discipline
  • Demonstrated information research and training capabilities including success building strong customer relationships, communicating complex issues and understanding of business priorities.
  • Experience using premium resources such as DIALOG, Clarivate Analytics databases, Informa, Elsevier, Micromedex, along with advanced Internet searching skills.
  • Experience using analytical tools advancing presentation of information results via data/text mining, data extraction, visualization, NLP and emerging technologies.
  • Familiarity with QUOSA and SharePoint.
  • Ability to synthesize data and communicate analysis into simple language for clients.
  • Excellent organizational skills including prioritizing and managing multiple projects and demands; self-manage time and resources effectively; ability to participate in a global, matrixed team environment
  • Knowledge of multi-national copyright and licensing principles and issues.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Fluent in written and verbal business English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Library and Information Sciences or appropriate equivalent education/experience
  • 5+ years pharmaceutical industry library database searching experience
