Job Description
Overview: Responsible for high level productivity, efficiency and quality standards of the Biologics Manufacturing, Distribution and Logistics department. Provides leadership over assigned staff and ensures the completion of tasks with the ultimate goal of a safety and high quality of the product.
This position also has management responsbility for the Lake Park Distribution location.Responsibilities: The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the duties and responsibilities performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree and five (5) years management experience in a related field; prior laboratory and/or blood bank experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.

Performance of this job could expose the employee to blood-borne pathogens. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

- Ensures that the most optimal product is manufactured according to the available supply and demands. Utilize methods (automated or manual) to control inventory, manufacturing and logistics processes with the objective of increasing efficiencies and decreasing waste
- Visualizes future impacts and needs; implements improvements/changes as appropriate. Seeks approval as required per SOP, policy and procedure or management requests
- Responds promptly to questions of product safety and storage including during equipment malfunctions and local disaster events
Hires employee(s), provides on-going assessment and conducts annual reviews - Ensures employee(s) have the training, tools and materials needed to carry out assigned duties. Estimates staffing needs and schedules; assigns work to subordinates and subunits to meet service and budget targets. Works closely with the Human Resources department to maintain high level of employee relations
- Recommends policies, methods, processes, techniques for the business function based on change initiatives; creates/conceptualizes new methods, techniques, and/or processes across job areas or functions
- Meets and/or exceeds organizational goals as they pertain to Biologics manufacturing, distribution, and logistics to include that all blood products are stored at appropriate temperatures, quarantine and initiate final disposition of products, reactive products, ensures the release of products after testing, label and store products and ensure that products are manufactured timely, efficiently
- Ensures efficient and accurate transport of unprocessed/processed blood and blood products, equipment, supplies and mail
- Organizes assigned work area (space, materials and staff); ensures area is free of health and safety violations. Maintains equipment by conducting Quality Control checks, calibrations, and temperature alarm verifications. Conducts validation/qualification and re-validation/re-qualification studies for processes and equipment
- Manages, supervises, coordinates, provides leadership to, and reviews the work of subordinates in order to accomplish operational plans and results
- Performs duties as needed and/or requested to support and maintain accreditation standards and continuous quality improvement of the organization; conducts basic safety/readiness checks of assigned vehicle prior to departure per SOP; reports any problem or mechanical issues
- Collects data and completes reports and analyzes trends, as needed, for tracking and for process improvements
Appropriately represents management and OneBlood; provides leadership, guidance, ensures productivity, inventory control, and efficiency and quality standards within departmental initiatives
