OverviewMcGuireWoods has an opening for an Application Delivery Manager in the downtown Richmond, VA office. While overseeing the application delivery team, the manager will provide firm wide direction for desktop technologies including OS, patches, productivity software and desktop anti-virus.

- Day-to-day management of the Application Delivery team for McGuireWoods along with providing leadership and professional development. Provide input for setting the direction for desktop technologies and tools.
- Manages all aspects of our laptop and desktop fleet including deployment of OS version, patch levels, productivity software, and desktop anti-virus
- Work with third party application/system vendors to implement, upgrade, assess and resolve technical issues of major software applications
- Ensure the development of operational procedures and documentation that is consistent and relevant. Complete documentation of all aspects of the image and package creation steps. Document, schedule, conduct and test system changes in accordance with operational guidelines
- Consolidate and aggregate data from disparate systems to provide intelligence that proactively addresses performance and utilization concerns. Leverage incident management data and insight to identify and resolve issues and manage problems.
- Take leadership in defining strategies and direction for end user and desktop infrastructure design, optimization, research analysis, usability and solution delivery for desktop technologies, including Operating System, browser, domestic and global audience.
- Represent End-user computing in a wide array of IT application and infrastructure projects requiring broad knowledge of Operating System and Browser configurations and Infrastructure integration, requiring excellent collaboration and partnering capabilities. Interface with our internal customers, and third-party teams for configuration, integration and deployment activities and projects.
- Provide technical assistance and support to the end-user as appropriate. Support may be delivered in the form of documentation and/or direct communication. Additional support duties may include:
- Provide high level software break/fix support for applications
- Assist Support Services and other teams in advanced software troubleshooting
- Respond to high priority requests received via the Service Desk and maintain agreed upon service levels to client
- Manage respond and provide updates to service tickets in the Application Delivery queue.
- Requires Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, business administration or related field
- Requires a minimum of two years equivalent work experience with supervisory responsibility for a small team
- Prior experience with modular approach to image creation using SCCM and various methods of deploying a computer image
- Knowledge of general aspects of the system development life-cycle
- Considerable knowledge of capabilities of information technology software, hardware and network communication technology
- Knowledge and experience with related technologies such as mobility, messaging, security policies, virtualization (Citrix and VMWare, cloud capabilities (O365, Office Pro Plus))
- Windows 7, 10 Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft User Experience Virtualization (UE-V), AppSense, MSI package creation
- Best practices around image management including deployment, updating, ongoing maintenance
- Possess existing proficiency in testing, certifying and deploying new software and solutions to the enterprise
PREFERRED:
Experience in planning, development, installation, integration, testing, deployment and troubleshooting major systems such as, but not limited to, Document Management, Financial Billing, Matter Management, Customer Relationship Management, Docket Management, Collaboration and Content Management.
- Experience in planning, development, integration, testing, deployment and troubleshooting the Office Suite, related document authoring, comparison and/or workflow applications and all department/group/individual specific applications in a legal environment
