Job Description

Maintenance Technician II
The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for preventive & general maintenance & repair of facility and associated equipment. These duties are performed in accordance with all applicable standards to provide a safe environment of care for employees, patients, & visitors of all ages. Other responsibilities include security in the absence of a security officer and other related duties as assigned or requested.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains & Repairs Equipment

  • Assists in maintaining & repairing H.V.A.C. controls & associated equip. to maximize the efficiency of environmental equipment.
  • Maintains fire alarm system. (includes proper response to alarms, to changing defective components, & resetting the system).
  • Assists in replacing, installing, repairing & testing electrical circuits, equipment, appliances & lighting systems as required.
  • Assists in parts ordering and inventory control.

General Facility Maintenance and Security

  • Serves as lead technician and assumes role of director in his absence.
  • Maintains all physical structures of the hospital & complies with all building codes, including facility equip. & controls.
  • Operates and maintains the potable water supply as required by Texas Natural Resources Conservation Commission.
  • Maintains the Sewage Treatment Plant as required by TNRCC.
  • Performs urgent corrective, routine, & requisitions repairs of electrical, mechanical, & plumbing systems.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment & systems as required.
  • Performs routine inspection & testing of the hospital emergency generator and associated equipment.
  • Performs light maintenance duties as requested. Including: replacing light bulbs, light carpentry, moving furniture, removing or scrap, etc.
  • Performs Security duties as assigned of appropriate presence of individuals in and around the facility.

Documentation

  • Maintains routine records of all inspections, preventive maintenance & repairs on all equipment & systems.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: One to two years related experience and or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. General Maintenance background experience required, hospital maintenance experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner as to reflect the highest integrity of Plant Operations.
  • Works days, evening, or night shift as assigned.
  • Ability to do work on his/her own without more than normal supervision.
  • A working knowledge of the fire alarm & signal systems.
  • A through knowledge of how to use & maintain plant tools & equipment.
  • Knowledge & observance of safety precautions.
