Position Overview
This position will provide comprehensive maintenance support to Proterra’s Facilities Manager and other site leadership team members. You will be responsible for performing complex and technically demanding work within technical area of expertise, effectively identifying problems as they occur and taking appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is more difficult and complex.
About the Role – You will:
- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and plant facility’s equipment.
- Performs complex maintenance on tools, test equipment, etc.
- Leads the resolution of equipment/system failures and faults and interfaces with customer personnel to provide quality service and feedback on problem evaluation and resolution.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service; Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilitates.
- Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions; Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Practice safe work habits and abide by the safety rules in accordance with the safety policies set forth by our client; Maintain clean and orderly work areas (5S).
- Provide electro-mechanical corrective repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Log all service work performed, downtime during repair and account for equipment service. Completes documents of all inspections, maintenance and repair work and failures; Reviews maintenance logs and work orders of junior techs.
- Other duties as assigned by management.

- This position will be part of the Manufacturing and Facilities team that supports Proterra’s Manufacturing and Engineering operations.
- You will report to the Facilities Manager and collaborate with team members located at the manufacturing facility.

Your Experience Includes:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (specialized training/certifications are a plus)
- 5+ years of maintenance experience (with electro-mechanical experience is preferred)
- 5+ years of experience working with automation (i.e., mechanically, electrically or pneumatics)
- 5+ years of experience of Control Logic
- Be available after hours/weekends and holidays for phone support and callout as required.
- Physical Demands:
- May work various shifts as needed; may be requested to travel to different locations.
- Lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
- Able to walk, stand, crouch, bench, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
- Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color variations, depth perceptions and close or distance visual items.
- Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive finger motion.
- Environmental Demands:
- Ability to work in manufacturing environment with extreme heat and cold conditions.
- Wear protective clothing or respiratory protective equipment.
- Works with irritant chemicals, gases, etc.
