Job Responsibilities

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance, work scheduling, spare parts management and completion of projects as assigned. The role is a key part of our maintenance team supporting the gas separation membrane manufacturing operations in Newport, DE. Responsibilities involve multi-craft aspects including routine process and facilities equipment and systems maintenance and troubleshooting in areas of electrical, mechanical and general plant operations. This will be a second shift position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively engage in safety improvement and awareness efforts
  • Provide maintenance support for the manufacturing and support teams
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical equipment including HVAC, boilers, air compressors, pumps, water treatment systems, machine tools, mixing systems, winding systems, etc.
  • Perform general repairs from work requests, troubleshooting, repair of equipment, and resolution of operational issues.
  • Schedule maintenance tasks based on established prioritization process
  • Effectively support and manage spare parts inventory.
  • Assist in the development of cost estimates and economic justifications for maintenance projects.
  • Create and manage parts and services purchase requisitions to support maintenance activities.
  • Assist other maintenance personnel during repair and maintenance activities as needed.
  • Be available to work overtime, on call shifts, and fill in on other shifts as needed which may require weekend or evening work.
  • Participate actively in LEAN manufacturing projects and initiatives
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Competencies

Required

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • 5 years+ documented industrial maintenance experience - preferably in the chemical, pharma or engineered materials processing industries
  • Strong command of English language, both verbal and written
  • Competent in computer based communications and applications
  • Knowledge of electrical repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system troubleshooting and repair
  • Machine shop experience
  • Metal fabrication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Preferred

  • Electrical journeyman qualification
  • Experience in chemical industry
  • Experience in maintenance and repair of both building systems and manufacturing equipment
