Job Description

Vantage™ a global leader in the manufacturing of select raw materials for use in value added formulations. Our key manufacturing process include esterification, alkoxylation and blending capabilities, plus the manufacturing of over 100 oleochemical derivatives for customers seeking high performance, naturally derived ingredients. We also supply select vegetable oils to industrial markets and have a custom manufacturing segment providing solutions for many customers specific requirements.

Currently, we are seeking to fill a Maintenance Technician for our Chicago, Illinois location. This role is responsible for the repair and maintenance support in the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation areas of the facility as well as perform preventive maintenance service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of plant wide equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.

· Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting, and repair of plant wide equipment.

· Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

· Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.

· Repair and maintain mechanical electrical and instrumentation equipment in the facility as directed by supervisor.

· Perform routine preventative maintenance on various equipment.

· Use hand and power tools as required to perform routine equipment maintenance functions.

· Use powered Man lifts (Eg JLG’s) and Scissor lifts to gain safe access to equipment.

· Transport and lift equipment using forklift trucks and other specialist equipment.

· Certify plant instruments following established ISO guidelines.

· Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical/instrumentation problems, diagnose faults, and carry out repairs.

· Follow all safety procedures at all times.

· Install new equipment as required.

· Desire to train and increase skill levels in other areas from core skill eg. Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation.

· Complete record keeping documentation such as work orders, parts withdrawal, safety permits, etc. including entering information into the computer system.

· Responsible for FSSC/GMP food safety related to designated area.

· Report any food safety and quality related issues to management immediately.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a H.S. Diploma and approved qualifications, such as
  • Appropriate and Relevant Associates Degree,
  • City of Chicago Electricians license,
  • Trade School Certificate e.g. Coyne American Institute.
  • Must also have 3-5 years of related maintenance experience in a manufacturing preferably Chemical or related industry.
