Description
Georgia-Pacific’s Consumer Products Group is seeking transformative leaders to join our centralized Maintenance Team within our Clatskanie, OR operation as our new Maintenance Superintendent! Our Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent will help lead and support preventative and predictive maintenance programs, provide technical support for troubleshooting to minimize downtime and maximize process efficiencies. This position also works with engineers and operation team members to understand their maintenance needs for daily work and shutdowns and then provides necessary resources to meet those needs. The role reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible 7 direct reports and a total team of 40 employees.
Our Wauna Mill is located on the Columbia River and is centrally located near the beach and mountains with several forms of outdoor recreational activities. The Wauna Mill is within an hour drive to Portland, OR offering regional attractions and forms of entertainment. - Facilitate team development and growth, employee skill development, problem-solving and resolution, building employee commitment and ownership and holding employees accountable.
- Establish metrics, goals, and benchmarks that drive excellence through promoting continuous process improvement, employee involvement, ownership, and accountability while aligning and optimizing the manufacturing enterprise in delivering value to the business.
- Drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively identify hazards and implement the appropriate mitigating strategies based on the risk involved.
- Monitor the quality of craftwork and provide direction to crew members to maximize efficiency.
- Clearly explain the scope of daily milestone expectations to employees when assigning work
- Assist with troubleshooting production issues; provide safety training to crew members; coaching; team development/performance management; data entry and completing/generating reports.
- Associate Degree in engineering or engineering technology or in lieu of a degree 8 or more years of Manufacturing, Industrial or Military experience.
- Must have 5 or more years of leadership responsibility i.e., responsibility for delegating tasks, leading projects, holding others accountable for results.
- 5 or more years of General Maintenance experience working within an industrial/manufacturing operation.
- Experience using the following Microsoft Office Software: Excel – (sorting data, creating tables, and creating graphs); Outlook – (scheduling tasks, calendar invitations and general professional correspondence); Word – (document creation/editing); PowerPoint – (presentation creation/editing); and Project (creating a project plan, adding tasks, resources and milestones).
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering
- Experience with implementation of precision maintenance
- Leadership/supervisory experience in a manufacturing operation with focus on Mechanical and Reliability Maintenance
- Experience with manufacturing methods and continuous improvement processes
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Manufacturing System (CMMS), preferably SAP
- Experience applying maintenance best practices and approaches utilized in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP)
