Job Description
THE POSITION

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has a need for responsible people who are willing to work for Colonel Denning State Park in Newville, PA. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Perform a variety of maintenance tasks including assisting in the maintenance of all building, equipment, and infrastructure. Work involves the use of a large variety of construction and maintenance equipment and tools in many different tasks and having a basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, landscaping and other building trades.

Performs semi-skilled work alone or assists a skilled worker; or may function as lead worker for a small crew of manual workers performing routine tasks. Makes repairs to building and facilities, using tools of carpentry, electrical, plumbing and other building trades in the performance of this maintenance work.

Cleans restroom facilities and other buildings of the park. Installs picnic grills, park benches and other amenities at park facilities when assigned. Paints and/or stains park signs; building walls, ceilings & floors; tanks and other equipment. Assists skilled tradesman with construction activities, and repairs and maintenance to park water systems

Operates chain saw for cutting storm damaged and hazardous trees, trims branches off and cuts logs into specified lengths. Mows grass and maintains park grounds in assigned areas . Performs snow removal. Operates a motor vehicle and small park equipment and assists in the maintenance, care and cleaning of vehicles and equipment.


  • Seasonal full-time employment
  • Work hours vary: 37.5 hours/week - 7 day a week operation. Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and all shifts as required by Park Management. There are "no benefits".

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
  • Necessary Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
