Job Description

Great Basin College is recruiting for a Maintenance Repair Worker 2 for the Elko Campus. This position will be responsible for semi-skilled maintenance duties such as carpentry and repairs, plumbing, painting, electrical, HVAC maintenance, vehicle and equipment maintenance; occasional grounds maintenance duties such as mowing grass, pruning trees and bushes, and snow removal; occasional janitorial duties such as vacuuming and shampooing carpets, mopping floors, and cleaning of student dormitories and occasionally classrooms and restrooms; and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Two (2) years of building, grounds and equipment maintenance experience in performing semi-skilled building/grounds and equipment maintenance work; OR one (1) year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

This position requires
A valid Class C Nevada driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Must be able to be insured without an SR-22 or a certificate of financial responsibility (CFR) at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

The duties of this position requires exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Heavy work requiring walking or standing to a significant degree and pushing and/or pulling.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours.
