- Duties include installation, maintenance, repair of all water, high pressure steam, medical gas and vacuum systems, non-medical sterilization equipment, kitchen equipment, water based fire protection systems, domestic water chlorinating systems, water softeners and gas systems and their associated piping distribution systems and repair and maintenance of high temperature water and high-pressure piping systems such as steam, hydraulic, compressed air, nitrogen, oxygen supply lines.
- Duties also include repairing walls, doors, ceilings, floors, windows, tables, plumbing, locks, lighting, urinals, faucets, toilets, sinks, high pressure steam systems, control valves, water chlorination and HVAC equipment. Installation of floor and ceiling tiles, door frames, walls, gauges and plastic laminate surfaces.
- Will perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) inspections as indicated on PM printouts and complete assigned work orders utilizing appropriate equipment.
- Will be required to assist the facility Electrician and HVAC Mechanic with multiple task when required. Construct necessary dust barriers and or block off areas as needed.
- Will be required to assist other Maintenance Personnel with other similar trade assignments.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.
- Must have knowledge of interpreting Blueprints and Mechanical drawings.

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the day to day maintenance and operations of mechanical systems and equipment throughout the Orlando VAMC Main Campus and off site business offices and Outpatient Clinics.

Physical Requirements: The Maintenance Mechanic may frequently work in hot, humid, confined spaces around equipment and systems associated with facilities. He/she must climb ladders, bend, crouch, stoop and endure prolonged periods of standing and walking. Incumbent must lift parts and supplies weighing up to 40 lbs. Must be physically fit as work involves lifting, pulling, climbing, crawling, working with hands over head, working in confide areas, and using arm and back muscles. Incumbent must possess ability to be on feet for long periods either standing, walking, working off ladder, or staging materials, and lifting equipment. Travel Required
