Description:

The Maintenance Mechanic -Boiler Operator position is responsible for ensuring equipment integrity and timely repair.

Perform following duties as outlined:
Ammonia Systems – including compressors, chillers, intercoolers, storage receivers, thermosyphans, pumps, piping, manual and automatic valves, Hanson controllers, storage freezers, coolers, spiral freezers and lab freezer condenser towers, fans, and associated equipment.
Air Systems – including air compressors, air dryer, air system up to the service drop shut off valve and maintaining the plant operating air pressure.
Waste Water Treatment Plant – including pumps, blowers, north and south treatment plants, valves and piping.
HVAC Units – including ammonia fed units for processing, water fed units for packaging, freon units for cafeteria, front office, lab and dist. Office, trash room, stock room, and maintenance shop and all window units. Perform all mechanical work and filter changes.
Steam Systems – including boilers, plate heat exchangers, water heater, COP wash tanks, steam traps, valves, piping, pumps, cookers, automatic control valves, thermal fluid boiler of FTS fryer, base board heaters and heat to all HVAC units.
Exhaust Systems – including all exhaust fans, motors, belts and blowers.
Plumbing – including all water lines, valves, drain lines, and restroom facilities.
Safety – including all fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems, sprinklers, eye wash stations and storm water systems. Including clearing of lot and sidewalks in winter months. Employer truck maintenance.
Security – checks of all doors, monitor truck traffic and parking lot.
Facility Repair:
  • Perform all mechanical maintenance, adjustments, and preventive maintenance of equipment to improve its operation and reliability.
  • Assist in construction type work involving the removal or installation of equipment.
  • Ensure proper operation of shop equipment and powered tools, and cleanup of any equipment parts, tools, or spills that occur while performing job duties.

Position Requirements:

Requirements:

  • HS Diploma/GED preferred.

  • Food plant experience preferred.

  • Must be able to read, write, be skilled at mathematical calculations, keep accurate and legible records, monitor and enter data into a computerized workstation, drive a forklift and maintain an operator’s license.
  • Must be able to work in strained positions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to withstand heights of up to 100’
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must have excellent vision and hearing abilities.
  • Must have the ability to perform job duties effectively and safely.
  • Must be able to drive a forklift and maintain a forklift operator’s license.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The temperature will vary depending upon specific working location, ranging from very cold temperatures in the freezers to hotter temperatures in the oven areas which may reach up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Outside work will vary in temperature and conditions.
