Maintenance Helper

About the Role

TLC Linen Services is seeking a Maintenance Helper to assist with maintaining an industrial laundry facility. This is an entry level maintenance position. You will learn new skills as you assist with repairing, maintaining, installing and troubleshooting industrial equipment, systems and components including, but not limited to, washers, dryers, ironers, feeders, folders, conveyor systems and boilers; assisting with performing preventive/predictive maintenance; resolving safety concerns; performing indoor and outdoor housekeeping; monitoring inventory supplies and maintaining maintenance records.

This is a hands-on position requiring a thoughtful, steady, deliberate, and precise individual with an eye for managing detail-work and always following through. Accustomed to an environment with well-defined processes and standards, this person produces consistent, error-free work while following all safety guidelines.

Basic Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in basic preventive/predictive, troubleshooting skills, and repair methods of industrial processing equipment in an industrial environment or in the military.
• 1+ years of experience using hand tools and power tools with proper safety precautions.
• 1+ years of experience in mechanical and/or electrical basic components.
• 1+ years of experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and steam.
• Able to read maintenance literature printed in English.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Basis Microsoft Office computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• HVAC experience.
• Boiler knowledge. 2nd Class Boiler Operators License is a plus.
• Ability to perform welding activities such as MIG, TIG, ARC, cutting, and brazing.
• Associates degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the electrical and/or mechanical field.
• Basic use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Physical Demands

• Regular bending, lifting, kneeling, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
• Engage in full dexterity with both hands and wrists.
• Walking throughout the facility and its grounds with great frequency.
• Ability to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitations.
• Dexterity in eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation).
• Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, lint, odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on wet or uneven surfaces.
• Lift and move up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to stand/walk for up to 7-hours in an 8-hour shift.
