SUMMARY
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating activities related to plant reliability engineering improvements, programs and initiatives. This person will drive continuous improvement of maintenance initiatives by implementing industry wide Maintenance Best Practice's and will be responsible for managing equipment uptime metrics, analyzing Mean Time Between Failures data and other equipment performance data management systems in reducing downtime.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
25-30% Participate in the design and installation process for new equipment. Oversee capital projects originating from the Maintenance Department and “project” work orders.
25-30% Develop Predictive Maintenance strategies to identify pending equipment failures utilizing technologies such as vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis and ultrasonic inspection. Hands-on-approach in leading efforts to reduce downtime and Maintenance costs. Maintain a proactive Maintenance approach. Develop new and revise existing PMs that will lead to a reduction of downtime or slow time.
20-30% Be a safety champion and agent of change. Provide daily walkthrough of production facility; provide necessary follow-up to safety and machine reliability observations. Assist Production and Maintenance teams with technical issues, equipment performance, and training. Assist with startup from planned outages and unplanned downtime events.
15-25% Lead efforts to increase the life cycles of equipment / parts with the use of alternative types of equipment / parts and PM plans. Look for opportunities to replace PMs with non-intrusive Predictive Maintenance techniques.
15-25% Regularly lead and participate in Root Cause Analysis sessions. Analyze root cause of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions that will lead to improved performance.

Demonstrated expertise in a multi-discipline engineering role
High volume manufacturing knowledge with engineering focus on production machinery, batching and preferably continuous process
General knowledge/skills (entry, intermediate, advanced)
Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and listening
Demonstrated intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office
Excellent planning and organizational skills including ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Intermediate financial/budgetary understanding
Ability to lead and direct the work of others
Education/Experience
BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical) required
Minimum of (3) years’ engineering experience in a manufacturing setting required; minimum of (5) years preferred
Continuous Process, Web Handling, or Pulp & Paper Industry experience preferred
