Scope and Authority
The Machine Operator is responsible for carrying out various manufacturing procedures and handling numerous aspects of the work independently. If technical problems or errors occur, the Team Leader/Supervisor has to be contacted.
Main Tasks
- Participation in work discussion meetings
- Making sure the orders are complete to engineering and customer demands
- Safe and certified operation of industrial equipment as needed
- Compliance with the health and safety, environmental regulations and standards as well as adhering to quality control regulations
- Operating the machine and tools based on the applicable process, operation, control, and safety instructions. All work is carried out in accordance with the designated techniques, taking into account the required productivity levels and the set quality standards
- Initiation of improvements within one’s own area of responsibility. This includes identifying misalignment in protocol and resources, giving feedback on manufacturability and reproducibility of machines and communicating any faults or deficiencies to the Team Leader / Supervisor.
- Collaboration with outside departments when needed
- Participate in other work activities adhering to the Team Leader / Supervisor’s instructions
Manual Machinist:
- Follow prescribed production procedures from the interpretation of work drawings, setup of materials and turning and milling complex welded assemblies, and castings.
- Initiation of improvements within one’s own area of responsibility. This includes identifying operational difficulties, giving feedback on manufacturability and reproducibility of machines with Manufacturing Engineers and/or CNC Programmers and communicating any faults or deficiencies to the Team Leader / Supervisor

Education, Knowledge, and Experience
Manual Machinist:
- Secondary education in machining or a relevant technical field adhering to local legal requirements
- 5 years minimum experience
- Either a combination of experience with manual lathe, manual milling machines, keyway broaching
- Good understanding of verbal and written English as well as local language
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Ability to work in both metric and standard/imperial
- Ability to both visually inspect and measure parts
- Use precision measuring equipment
- Ability to provide input during the initial development of machining processes
- Work to a predefined production list while maximizing throughput
- Experience in machining of various type of materials (Stainless Steel, Mild Steel, Aluminum, Castings, Plastics, Welded assemblies)
- Setup fixtures and tooling based on engineering requirements
- Experience with setup and use of steady rest
- Ability to fabricate shop aids / fixtures to complete jobs
- Indicate 4 jaw chuck
