Job DescriptionTeva is searching for a Lyophilization (Freeze Dryer) subject matter expert to join our team in Irvine! As a Maintenance Tech III (Freeze Dryer), you are an integral part of the Utilities Maintenance team at the Irvine, CA facility. This key position focuses on diagnosing, repairing and maintaining our key HVAC assets including our critical freeze dryers. As our site Lyophilizer specialist, you will oversee all refrigeration equipment including the mechanical operation, controls, electrical and mechanical installation, equipment optimization, effective/efficient equipment operation, electrical/electronic systems, and preventive maintenance.
You will:
- Complete and understand training requirements as identified by the Group Leader and/or the Teva training department. This includes all SOPs referring to the production or facilities equipment, maintenance documentation procedures, safety, cGMPs and equipment operational parameter SOPs.
- Be responsible for understanding and reviewing the proper use of maintenance documentation required under cGMPs. Examples include: proficient with the site CMMS/Maintenance Work Order system, the CSCR system, Preventative Maintenance Documentation forms, SOP documentation, and the use of Equipment Log Books.
- Complete assignments in a timely manner from detailed engineering drawings, specifications, logic diagrams, schematics, verbal and written instruction.
- Review and write purchase requisitions for equipment requirements.
- Coordinate projects with vendors and suppliers involving close coordination and supervision with the responsible Maintenance Group Leader, Supervisor, and Manager, along with the Engineering, QA/QC and Validation departments.
- Complete emergency repairs when necessary to offset downtime and production delays.
- Monitor the work of outside contractors when installing, repairing or investigating equipment within the facility, ensuring contractors and suppliers are providing the site with quality services.
- Be available for emergency call-backs as required and flexible with work hours including holidays or plant shutdowns.
- Work with MRO Materials Management team for timely procurement and acquisition of parts needed for freeze dryer repairs and maintenance.
- Follow Teva Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures. Adhering to safety codes and guidelines for one’s self and others throughout the plant.
- Support the generation of preventive maintenance work orders; track timely completion of preventative maintenance schedule and corrective maintenance backlog.
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience in repair, installation, maintenance and modifications to HVAC/R equipment, air handling systems, sophisticated refrigeration equipment, particularly lyophilizers
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to use maintenance tools, precision instruments and testing equipment safely and accurately
- Basic understanding of single and three phase power troubleshooting and maintenance techniques
- Excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Good oral and written English communication skills
- Strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude, problem solver; thorough, attentive to details
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of facility utility systems such as boilers, RO systems, chillers, WFI distribution systems, and cooling towers, is advantageous
- Two (2) years technical schooling or associates degree and three to five (3-5) years of experience as a technician or a mechanic involved with HVAC/R equipment
- Completion of vocational courses in areas such as welding, mechanics, control systems, electrical, refrigeration, HVAC/R, or Freeze drying is desirable
- Three years of experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment such as Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical or Medical Devices
- A working knowledge of Infor EAM CMMS
- Experienced working within the guidelines of a Quality Management System (e.g. Change Control, Quality Investigations)
- Experience in participation of deviations, investigations, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) events
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in the use of a CMMS (e.g. EAM, SAP, or MAXIMO)
- Refrigeration license and Universal EPA certification is preferred
- Ability to operate a fork lift and heavy equipment
