Overview
Mercy Medical Center (MMC), a Dignity Health member, is a 186 bed acute care, religious sponsored, not-for-profit hospital located in the city of Merced, California. MMC opened on May 2, 2010 and employs over 1,300 people, making it one of the largest employees in Merced County. MMC has a professional relationship with more than 250 local physicians. Major programs and services include: one licensed acute care facility with a family birthing center, intensive care unit, emergency care and four floors housing, telemetry and medical/surgical nursing units. There are three outpatient facilities, Mercy UC Davis Cancer Center, Mercy Outpatient Center and the Mercy Medical Pavilion. Services at these outpatient centers include home care, physical and cardiac rehabilitation, ambulatory surgery, cancer care, laboratory, imaging and endoscopy. MMC primary service area includes the cities of Merced, Atwater, Winton and the County of Merced.

Position SummaryConsistent with scope of licensure, parameters of the California LVN Nurse Practice Act, and Mercy Medical Center (MMC) policy and procedure, renders nursing care to assigned patient populations under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The Employee Health LVN is a non-exempt, confidential position. The position is responsible for supporting the Employee Health department with Employee Health and Workers' Compensation activities.

Responsibilities

The Employee Health LVN is a non-exempt, confidential position. The position is responsible for supporting the Employee Health department with Employee Health and Workers' Compensation activities.
- Provides vaccination updates and TB screening for facility's healthcare personnel.
- Coordinates and performs administrative and clerical activities relating to various aspects of Workers' Compensation, employee health treatment, follow up and documentation.
- Assists with mandated health requirements and all other employee health issues. Assists Employee Health Manager with new hire and annual employee health screening, vaccine updates, data input, and generating reports. Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Provides minor first aid care for industrial injuries and refers out to Occupational Health provider as needed. Responsible for case management and claims monitoring administration, report generation, and communication with employees, managers, insurance carrier, and at times medical personnel.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess and maintain a current LVN license with the state of California.
- Possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
- Three years health care and/or administrative assistance experience required.
- Knowledge of labor code and OSHA regulations and requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills mandatory. Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Demonstrated ability to cope with complex and sensitive situations using excellent judgment and tact. Must have good systems aptitude, analytical and organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
- Experience with EHR (Cerner), ViaOne, Juris, Lawson
- Previous experience working in a doctor’s office or clinic.
- One year experience in Occupational Health, Workers' Compensation, and/or Human Resources, preferably in a health care environment.
- Prior Case Management experience
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, Title 8, Title 22, OSHA regulations, CDC & NOISH guidelines
- Advanced office skills
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
