LPN - Pulmonary - FT - Days - #2947
Stormont Vail Health is searching for a LPN - Pulmonary - FT - Days - #2947 in our Pulmonary Clinic department. This position is at 823 SW MULVANE STREET, TOPEKA, KS 66606 USA.
Schedule: Full time - 36 hours/week or greater
Shift: First Shift (Days - Less than 12 hours per shift)
Weekly Work Schedule: 8a-5p M-F
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Previous experience in an office setting preferred.
Certificates and Licenses: Current LPN licensure in the State of Kansas. CPR certification is required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Summary:
Provides professional nursing care, under supervision, for clinic patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities are as follows. Other duties as assigned.
Direct Patient Care Services:
- Perform general nursing care to patients in accordance with nursing standards.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments
- Assist with examinations and procedures
- Triage patient telephone calls, evaluating the physical and psychosocial health status of the patient
- Clarify medication orders and refills to pharmacies as directed by providers
- Coordinate patient services to include: lab tests, point of care testing, x-rays, diagnostic procedures, consults, home care, and acute care admissions
- Complete referrals, prior-authorizations, and benefit investigations
- Provide patient education regarding medications, lab tests, x-rays, and procedures
- Notify patients of test results and provider disposition
- Document medical information using the appropriate electronic applications and/or forms
Health and Safety:
- Assess patient rooms and surrounding areas for safety issues. Remove hazards and make adjustments as indicated.
- Utilize appropriate channels to communicate patient safety and patient care issues to appropriate parties
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment, examination, and treatment rooms
- Maintain exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials.
- Participate in Patient Safety Rounds
- Adheres to infection control, emergency, safety, fire and disaster plans and policies, completing required initial training and updates per hospital policy.
- Demonstrates consistent use of Standard Precautions and proper body mechanics and follows OSHA guidelines
Communication and collaboration:
- Orient/mentor team members
- Participate in intra- and inter-departmental committees
- Actively participates in process improvement activities (i.e. meetings, data collection, A3)
- Adheres to staffing and scheduling practices.
- Demonstrates excellent understanding and use of the EMR
- Demonstrates effective communication skills in interactions with clinic staff, physicians, hospital departments, patients, employers and caregivers.
- Documentation is clear, concise and completed in a timely manner.
Professionalism:
- Demonstrates knowledge of the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act and follows the statutes and regulations therein.
- Responsible for understanding and showing respect for patients’ rights including confidentiality of patient information.
