Job Description
The Resident Health Nurse is authorized to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibility delegated to her/him so long as such action does not deviate from established policy and practice as defined by Pennswood Village and the current Pennsylvania Professional Nursing Act in the delivery of home care services. Apply the nursing process to residents and their families in their homes to provide for their health care needs. Participate in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the individual patient plan of care and make recommendations to the interdisciplinary team. Maintain accurate and objective written and oral communication. Promote wellness through health education. Coordinate all appropriate home care service. Problem-solves emergency situations. Carry out professional responsibilities both independently and in collaboration with other staff. Participate in the delivery of health services through the Resident Health Department. Establish safe and accurate working habits in the delivery of individual patient care. Consistently seek to extend professional knowledge and improve skills. Maintain and ensure the personal rights of all patients through knowledge of and advocacy of the Patient's Bill of Rights. Perform clinical laboratory procedures.

Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program.

Licensed to practice as an RN or LPN in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Additional education in physical assessment.

Prior experience in home care and geriatrics preferred.

Able to meet the physical demands of the position, i.e., bending, lifting a minimum of 20 lbs. and transferring of patients. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
